One young person stabbed to death in the Central Station (railway) in Brussels during the day, supposedly while stealing an mp3 player.
Terrible, and it does demonstrate the rising aggression in our society. But, I simply can not understand how this has become front page news for weeks by now in Belgium, for days in the Netherlands, AND even front page news in Poland. Every Polish person by now knows about the fact that a young Polish person (from Roma culture) has killed another young Belgium guy in Brussels. It's like a co-ordinated action by the media, and across borders.
Compare this to the 30 family drama's that happened in Belgium in 2005. That's right, 30 families !! All that was mentioned was that it was a record year.
Or compare the next two yearly figures:
About 1500 people die in traffic. Now this is one that is pumped up in the news big time. Why? Easy cash! Zero tolerance for traffic offences with incredibly high fines/penalties.
About 3000 !!! people die due to MRSA infection which is due to the unbridled use of antibiotics (usually broad spectrum) by our medical practitioners, and bad, if not absent measures in our hospitals. This is TWICE the amount of traffic deaths and due to MRSA alone. It does not yet include, the E. coli and other septicaemia's, or resistant TBC, or resistant pneumonia. Still, not much in the media about these "iatrogenic" deaths.
