Where do I start??

Ok, I’m keen to start the detox! ;D Where’s the best place to start? Is there a program to follow? I have already cut out coffee, sugar (use stevia instead), dairy and meat, but I’m at a loss as to what I should be eating now? I horse ride and have noticed I’m not as physically strong as I was before I went off the above, should I go back to eating meat or is there another good protein source? Thanx, Carly

Hi Carly -- I don't think there is any reason to cut out meat for the detox diet. Eliminating the other three things is good, but I believe you can put meat back into your diet. I think there are better and worse kinds of meat (best to try to find meat that's free of contaminants if you can, like hormones and mercury in fish), but meat in and of itself should be fine. The only thing I would add is that you may need more or less depending on your blood type.

Hi CarlyBee,

I would suggest adding a source of animal protein back to your diet. Focus on finding the higher quality meats from smaller animals too since toxins bio-accumulate the higher up the food chain you go. For instance, with fish; choose sardines or salmon over tuna. The lack of quality protein might be part of the reason why you feel physically weak. I put myself on a vegetarian diet years ago and experience the same problem with weakness. Actually I felt really good at first, probably because I was clearing out a lot of toxins from all the garbage meat I used to eat, but after several months I experienced a lot of fatigue.

Do you take vitamins or supplements at all? Assuming you take good supplements (i.e. those without fillers like magnesium stearate for instance), these will help you detox as well. You need to keep the methylation train running, which is how your body naturally detoxifies. You may need to boost the intake of certain supplements based on your own state of health and/or genetic factors.

I would study the recipies section too, if you are looking for food ideas.

A couple good posts to start off reading are these:

Detoxify or Die Cookbook

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

its also a good idea to get a blood and hair test done to find out what your mineral and heavy metal levels are at this stage and what you may be more or less allergic/intolerant to....
here is a link to a place that does them **http://www.sanctuarywellness.com.au/diagnostic_tests/hair_mineral_analysis.html
the small amount of hair they talk about has to be about 2 cm long and NATURAL not bleached or dyed...and they want quite a chunk...pubic hair works too but you cant give them head/pubic mix its one or the other
I did this 6 month into the detox and found out I am intolerant to buckwheat....
no pancakes for me :(
you can also test for candida ( there is a thread on it too)

(I still dont know how to do the link to another thread thing mods??? can you change it please and tell me how )

and once you have the test results you can fine tune the recipies and start planting a vege garden KALE KALE KALE ;) ;) ;)

Happy EE Monday

Hi Carly,

These are good questions. Sometimes you just have to start somewhere that feels like a good place to start and go from there. Thinking about what to do can be overwhelming, and I am afraid that that stops an awful lot of people from doing anything at all. If you start doing something, and you are already off to a good start, then you will begin to see things that help you to choose. I have tried a number of things myself over the last 15 years, and while I have learned a lot from that I can see that I have missed something important -- probably several things -- and I am taking a fresh look with help from the Forum. It is very much a process of self-discovery.

There are plenty of good protein sources, and you don't require as much as you might think. I followed a vegan diet for a couple of years but then returned to eating meat because my body was telling me that there was something missing in that diet--not protein--that my body, personally, needed, no matter how well some other people might do without meat. Now, however, having educated myself about the food industry and the diseased and dying animals that supply what most people are eating (helping destroy the environment as a bonus), I only buy meat that comes from healthy animals that were raised on natural (for them) organic foods, mostly chicken and turkey, some pork, some bison, and occasional grass-fed beef. It is expensive, but I don't eat that much meat anyway. My body responds well to small amounts.

Remember, you start out eliminating lots of things in order to discover anything you don't tolerate well, but you can reintroduce foods over time, one at a time. If you have to you can let some things back in now while you continue to learn (read, read!), but try to at least avoid most of the worst culprits most of the time until you have worked out an elimination diet that you can sustain for a while.

At the risk of overwhelming you (and I do feel overwhelmed by it all sometimes), here are a couple of other topics on this Diet & Health board:
Ultramind Solution Quizzes
Ultra Simple Diet

Hi rraven,

1. You must go to the thread in question and copy the link.

2. You either paste the link directly in your message or

3. (url](/url] you used those symbols(but replace the "(" with "[" ) which are form the icon on the second row and second column (below the I) and you add to the first url an = and you paste your link. Ex: url=yourlink with the bracketsat each end.

Hope it helps.

Yes I did notice I did do well on meat, I am an A+ blood type which apparently does very well on meat as protein.

Yes I think if I do go back to eating meat I will definately be checking out where it was grown! I used to live on a beef cattle station and know exactly what goes into the cattle for primary production purpose, its not pretty, at least we used to raise special ones just for our own eating in the bottom paddock that did not get all the growth hormones, antibiotics etc and you could certainly tell the difference in taste and health.

Agreed, the meat is going back in, I have been wondering for 6 months now why I feel so weak and lethargic, as I have an amazing natroupath that gives me good supplements so it must be the lack of meat. I will also study those links too thanks :)

Actually, type As should limit their red meat consumption and emphasize chicken, turkey, fish with beef only occasionally.

You beat me to it. :lol:

P.S. Carlybee, I'm a type A also. Laura is referring to the Eat Right 4 Your Type diet.

I just lucked out on purchasing 'Detoxify or Die' on ebay for the total winning bid of $8!!! Nice lol :D

Ah I've heard of a book about eating right for your blood type, I will check it out thanks :)

There's a Website dedicated to the bloodtype diet, you can consult it here

OK so i am beginning my search for body type and blood type diets, and right off the hop i notice some discrepancies with the link provided in post #11

so i will post some info from the eat right 4 your type and my understanding of my current diet as comparison

i could really use some help here as the type diet for me does not seem to jive, i should also note i am blood type A with RH +

OK

"Type As flourish on a vegetarian diet - if you are accustomed to eating meat, you will lose weight and have more energy once you eliminate the toxic foods from your diet. Many people find it difficult to move away from the typical meat and potato fare to soy proteins, grains and vegetables."

i usually eat mostly white meat (pork low fat, chicken, and other porky bad things like hot dogs and bologna and pepperoni, but LOVE the ham sammich yum yum) but uhhh if i lose any more weight i will float away, i am 5'10" tall and around 130-140lbs i have been this way since age 14-16 so it is my standard size i suppose and am 33 will be 34 this year 2011, also SOY is bad no? not that i would eat it anyways, other foods i eat are pasta with creamy sauces or typical spaghetti sauce, pizza, bread, for drink i pretty much only drink cocacola so I'm like a humming bird living on nectar in a way, and lately i have had huge cravings for fruit, yucky gross fruit lol, never liked it much before but now its so yummy, so far i prefer dried fruits, but I'm sure ill get to fresh eventually :) occasionally i add low fat beef, and should add i figure my body fat is about half of what it should be, good luck pinching an inch here, being underweight has always been an issue based on BMI stuff for myself

Next they discuss stress, levels being worse in the morning, well I'm not a morning person, and when i arise from slumber i am like a grizzly waking up from hibernation, don't get in my way for a couple hours it could be dangerous lol

"To help balance cortisol levels, Dr. D'Adamo recommends that you limit sugar, caffeine and alcohol. Don't skip meals, especially breakfast; eating smaller, more frequent meals will also help to stabilize blood sugar levels. He also points out that the following factors are known to increase cortisol levels and increase mental exhaustion for Type As - be aware and limit your exposure when possible:

* Crowds of people
* Loud noise
* Negative emotions
* Smoking
* Strong smells or perfumes
* Too much sugar and starch
* Overwork
* Violent TV and movies
* Lack of sleep
* Extreme weather conditions (hot or cold)"

so i do lots of sugar, and caffeine from the cocacola, NO ALCOHOL though, it never agreed with my delicate system so i quit, couple drinks a year is all i can stand. breakfast is something i almost never do as my stomach isn't ready to eat for a couple hours, i do however eat smaller meals and chew it to death as i was told my a nutritionist that by ensuring i chew a lot i will guarantee that i am getting more bang for my buck with what i ingest. now here in the list these things nearly all drive me nuts except for a few of them, hate crowds but i muddle through and get it overwith, i love loud music, but can only take it for so long. i am a smoker of 15 years now, HATE perfume, my fiancee has graciously switched to chocolate perfume so i do not gag :). i live primarily on breads ad sugars. i never do overtime at work EVER if they need more work schedule longer shifts right lol. have to admit being a male i am a sucker for the horror and SF and war and fantasy movies although i do prefer and watch far more documentary styles than actual movies, as for sleep well is 5 hours enough cause its all i seem to require and am not usually tired in the day, and as for the weather, well i live in Canada, tough to avoid hot and cold as we have hot humid summers and well its Canada so you can expect the winters to not be mild :)

now for exercise they mention meditation and tai chi and other easy going type activities but once again i have never been inclined to exercise, although when i work i work hard and get what i feel would be a fair amount of exercise through that

"Type As most often described themselves in ways related to the following characteristics: sensitive to the needs of others, good listeners, detail oriented, analytical, creative and inventive. "

this part describes me quite well and also fits in with my Virgo astrological sign quite nicely

"Live Right!

In addition to exercise, stress management and eating the right foods, here are some key lifestyle strategies for Type A individuals.

* Cultivate creativity and expression in your life
* Establish a consistent daily schedule
* Go to bed no later than 11:00 PM and sleep for eight hours or more. Don't linger in bed, as soon as you get up, get going!
* Take at least two breaks of twenty minutes each during the work day. Stretch, take a walk, do deep breathing exercises or meditate.
* Don't skip meals
* Eat more protein at the start of the day, less at the end
* Don't eat when you are anxious
* Eat smaller, more frequent meals.
* Engage in thirty to forty five minutes of calming exercise at least three times a week.
* Plan regular screening for heart disease and cancer prevention.
* Always chew food thoroughly to enhance digestion. Low stomach acid makes digestion more difficult."

i will go through each bullet here individually since each one has its own ups and downs in relation to my history and current life

i play bass, have since i was 12 love music and love playing, it is a stress relief for me so i think I'm alright there

i live the same day everyday schedule wise, which from the wave series i understand sort of takes away from spontaneous learning although my mental pursuits give me adequate learning i believe

go to bed before 11, i work till 11pm its nearly 7am right now and i haven't gone to be yet, now i do treat my shift like a "day" shift so i get up before i work like a day person and go to bed 6-9 hours after work like a day person would, so i am maintaining the "day" life just shifted

i don't often get the 2 breaks and notice that when i do not my muscles ACHE bad so i definitely see the value here

i don't really skip meals cause i eat when I'm hungry, and for protein well i don't think i get too much of that, perhaps this is my reason for being underweight? when I'm anxious i have no appetite anyways and as i said i don't eat huge meals unless my body tells me to give it more which isn't that often

calming exercise, this doesn't even compute for my mind, though i suppose this is what Yoga and tai chi are all about, although i have some issues with my nervous system whereas if i sit cross legged or well many other body positions cause parts to "sleep" i wake nearly everyday to dead arms and my bony butt falls asleep all the time

for health i am never sick so there must be something right there, and as for cancer and heart disease, its not prevalent in my family and i am still too young for the finger treatment. i imagine this will become necessary in the next 5 years though and am fully willing to have my "car" checked out by the "mechanic" now and then

hey there is that food thing again about chewing thoroughly but smoking increases stomach acid output so maybe this helps me digest, and on a sort of gross point i hardly umm have movements :scared: but once again this has been standard my whole life, so perhaps that's just the way this meatbag runs for me? ( for those of you wondering about the meatbag thing its what the assassin robot in Knights of the Old Republic Star Wars video game calls humanoids he he and i notice the star wars references all over the place here so i thought you may enjoy that

OK so what am i getting at with this insanely large post

am i on the right track having already naturally developed something that works for me that only maybe needs slight tweaking or what, as i seem to be mostly already doing whats mentioned here

noting that here on these forums soy has been shot down and smoking (the correct type of tobacco) is encouraged for the right body/blood types

thanx in advance for any input offered here as i would really appreciate any assistance in outside interpretations, since we often cannot see that which is right in front of us until someone else says HEY SEE THAT

oh also about the iron in blood helping to cross over, i used to give blood before i got tattooed and when you give blood they do a droplet test with a drop of your blood in some clear solution and the faster it falls the more iron you have in your blood, well mine always dropped like a rock so i think I'm good there

also about smoking opening the mind for psychic activity, i tried quitting on the patch once and wore it all night when i slept . VIVID DREAMS woke up soaked in sweat every night then, also now when i smoke immediately before i sleep i always shave very vivid dreams, i used to smoke marijuana but have quit and noticed since i quit i can finally remember these dreams, interesting indeed and perhaps i will have another prophetic dream like i did at age 15 , coincidentally when i had this dream it would have been nearly exactly 20 years before "2012" time, if you would like to know more about this dream send me a message or if i get enough requests i will create a post about it for all to see

man i can really ramble on eh, sorry folks, and once again thanx for listening and being here and being open and for any help you can offer :)

I think it depends on what's good for you, and there's a lot of testing involved, so you may want to go at one step at a time. I started cutting off gluten, because it made me very sick. Then I cutted off the coffee because I reaised I was a caffeine addicted (had one small cup a couple of weeks ago and found out it wasn't such a big thing after all). I'm slowy cutting sugar because it makes me feel terrible when I have it, and dairy.
I think meat's important, so I'm shifting to organic meat and eggs as much as I can. I'm already feeling A LOT better, no more inflammations, diarrhea, cramps, constipation, it's funny, but many things that seemed unrelated improved, one being my polen allergy!

Hi Jimbofirstround.

As you have likely found, the Diet and Health section has a great deal of information based on your questions. For example: The Vegetarian Stance, Saturated Fats, Cholesterol Lard and Vitamin D, Blood Type Diet - Dr Peter d'Adamo along with the UltraMind Solution Quiz thread.

Also, if you haven’t had a chance yet, do read the thread for the EE breathing program. It is a powerful program designed for relaxation as well as providing numerous health benefits based on vagus nerve stimulation.

As you read through the threads, keep in mind that the forum is based on continual research. Many topics covered have been revisited and revamped with the latest discoveries as we continue in our efforts for optimal health.
