Seriously, ever been to sites like Songmeanings etc.?

There are two kinds of people, Maynard fan whores (Like yours truly) and people who rag on them, like, Religiously. "You Tool fan whores are nothing but a bunch of pretentious, over zelous, over opinianated, pill popping pre teens", if I've heard that sentence once, I've heard it a billion times, give or take a couple of insults. Well, I'm no Pre Teen (I wish I was that young), I don't pop pills (I'd rather swallow them), I may be pretentious, but over-zelous?, ever heard the song "Pot" my good man?.

Their main argument is that Maynard is a fraud and people look too much into his lyrics. Yes, Maynard is a Fraud, the man was celebrated as a great Comedian in his early days, and screwing with people's heads is probably one of his hobbies. That doesn't neccesarily mean that he doesn't believe in the things he preaches (Altough they're definatly not his original philosophies). Maynard is just a musician, sure people DO look too much into his lyrics but honestly is that any reason to chase his band and his fans with pitchforks and torches?

It's getting to the point where Tool and JUST Tool is getting more persecuted than Emo and Nu Metal (Oh yeah, and I like that so called 'Nu Metal Crap'). Any idea why this is the case?, are Tool fan whores such as myself THAT annoying? or is it just that these bands and genres are too popular to keep too many fans in the periphirals of anti-pop?

Tool is not the only band that is targeted. Every band has its haters.

noise noise noise noise noise noise noise noise.......

and i find your language objectionable.

TOOL band members do not believe in belief systems. That is probably one of the reasons they get so much flak. There song Opiate is about that blind belief and needing a leader to follow.

"it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence."

If a man, holding a belief which he was taught in childhood or persuaded of afterwards, keeps down and pushes away any doubts which arise about it in his mind, purposely avoids the reading of books and the company of men that call into question or discuss it, and regards as impious those questions which cannot easily be asked without disturbing it--the life of that man is one long sin against mankind.

If this judgment seems harsh when applied to those simple souls who have never known better, who have been brought up from the cradle with a horror of doubt, and taught that their eternal welfare depends on what they believe, then it leads to the very serious question, Who hath made Israel to sin?

It may be permitted me to fortify this judgment with the sentence of Milton--

A man may be a heretic in the truth; and if he believe things only because his pastor says so, or the assembly so determine, without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, yet the very truth he holds becomes his heresy.[1]
And with this famous aphorism of Coleridge--

He who begins by loving Christianity better than Truth, will proceed by loving his own sect or Church better than Christianity, and end loving himself better than all.[2]
Inquiry into the evidence of a doctrine is not to be made once for all, and then taken as finally settled. It is never lawful to stifle a doubt; for either it can be honestly answered by means of the inquiry already made, or else it proves that the inquiry was not complete.

"But," says one, "I am a busy man; I have no time for the long course of study which would be necessary to make me in any degree a competent judge of certain questions, or even able to understand the nature of the arguments."

Then he should have no time to believe.

Surely the world can be a better place when anti-Tool and anti-anti-dogma sentiments are distilled and expressed against anti-talent Britney Spears and anti-backstreet Backstreet Boys or even against meddling in Iraq after jumping in from a big platform of anti-truths for that matter.
