Wierd-O-meter at all time high

The last couple of months things are going really wacky with my electrical equipment.
My printer broke down. My hard drive broke down. My computer monitor died. MP3 player died. Lava lamp died.

I was working late one night last week and the lights in the entire office block started buzzing off and on. Even after turning the lights off they were flickering on! I'm not usually bothered by such things but this really was quite eerie.

The electrics in my car have been playing up. Lights turning off, car radio turning off etc... I just had it checked out at a garage. They said they ran full diagnostics and couldn't find anything wrong with it. Sure enough, when I got the car back it ran fine. About half an hour later, the radio and lights start turning off again...

What prompted me to post is what sounded like gunshots outside our front yard. Three times it happened tonight. The last time I heard it there was also an explosion of blue lightning across our front yard and a great electrical buzzing noise. Passers-by also saw it and commented 'That was wierd!'

I have no idea what it was but it reminded me of a something the C's said about a tear in space. Almost as if the fabric of reality is breaking down... I would like to know what's causing it, especially since it's happening in my front yard!

FWIW the electric explosions continued throughout the night.

The last one just before dawn. Five big bangs within about a second. You could say we were a little startled to hear
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! I was in my study and could see a blue glow from the frontyard.
My wife was in the back room, she came running in and said she saw a red fireball explode over a tree out the back at the same time.

This made me think it's either ball lightning, or meteorites(all though I didn't think meteriotes had that electric effect)...

These electric effects seem to be quite violent, did you have some geological event in you area like an earthquake for example?
Are there some new high-power installations around?

Nothing that I'm aware of. I've heard these explosions before but until last night just assumed it was one of the neighbours.

well , electronics , i don't know if it falls here but this post reminded me of something i've been noticing in the northeastern USA where i reside , not only an extremely cold weird winter but in my job in the middle of the day lights just go off then they comeback after a while, also i have seen a lot i mean a lot of cars with one of their lamps off, or one their break-lights also off , so i don't know if that might be caused by the very winter but this post just reminded me of it..:P

I don't know that much about the electrical grid, but your in-house power fluctuations and the buzzing, sound(s) of explosion(s) and lightening effects can happen from blown, or preparing to blow, transformers of some kind - or unusual power surges?

The car thing could possibly be explained by electromagnetic interference with your cars' computer/electronic subsystem (assuming you have that) due to the above electrical issue.

The only other thing that I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is possibly electromagnetic pulses of some kind.

Since you probably haven't called your local utility to inquire, maybe one of our other 'outback' members in or near your area could comment on this.

Very cold temps can cause electrical grid components to fail. A transformer blowing makes a loud explosive sound. If in turn there are surges through your AC grid, various failures with things plugged into your house AC system can get fried and stop working. A huge surge can even make things explode or catch fire! (not common, but possible). It is always a good idea to have at least some kind of surge-protection device in-line between the AC from the service and any sensitive electronic equip (computers, TV, audio equip). Even a couple of cheap protectors together could save expensive equipment from a surge. And in this regard, better gear is better usually.
At times I have been a high-frequency user of electronic systems, and as such I have seen some pretty bizare combinations of chain-effects produce weird results. My advice is to start with the simplest explanations and work your way forward.

Thanks for the responses.
It's summer here(In Perth Australia), well it's meant to be summer (apart from the cool weather and rain clouds, that is).

We have underground power. I tried to find power lines or something, but all we have in our front yard are a few trees.

I'm thinking there may have been an underground power surge that resulted in the above ground lightning display and explosions we witnessed.
Or maybe someone is trying to distract me from reading Gnosis II. I feel like I've been making some real progress and then the air starts exploding.

Something tells me this is going to be a very odd year.
Anyway, back to Gnosis...
