I moved this to this thread as I misposted it to begin with...
Since starting on the USD, wild rice has become one of my favorite ingredients. They are delicious, healthy, savory and prohibitively expensive in Denmark :( . The nutritional properties of wild rice are mentioned many places on the forum and I hope to make it a central component of my diet.
I have been looking far and wide to see if I could buy them in bulk from somewhere in the EU but the only place that had them at a somewhat decent price was a UK site that shipped only within the UK and would not make exceptions. However, this vendor was still way more expensive that bulk vendors in the US or Canada.
Therefore, I started contacting wild rice bulk sellers in the US to see if something could be arranged and I am currently waiting for quotes on different quantities and qualities (grade A and organic).
Currently, the cost of wild rice in Denmark is between 6 and 8 EUR per 250 grams which can kill many a budget. Depending on the total order size, I believe that I might be able to arrive at a price that is half or even one quarter of that or maybe less.
I was considering organizing bulk purchases if there are any people on the forum that are interested. This could be for all of Europe, for Scandinavia or for Denmark . However, I am not sure if that violates forum guide lines as it would involve an exchange of addresses.
If there is interest, maybe we can work out a way to handle this? Obviously, I'd be more than happy to set up the contact to the whole seller if there are any other people who could benefit from bulk buying directly.
I think the minimum size is 50 lbs, so alternatively, I'll just have a lot of yummy wild rice :)
