Today my cousin sent me a link to some pretty neat software put out by microsoft: _http://www.worldwidetelescope.org/whatIs/whatIsWWT.aspx

It's basically a computer application that lets you utilize the worlds telescoping capabilities from home. Pretty neat I thought, especially if we got wind of a comet/asteroid and wanted to take a peak. I also look up the C's and it's quite a picture, stunningly beautiful. There are also many other ways of looking. Anyway I haven't had time to do a full out review of the software yet, but I wanted to share it with y'all just in case some aspiring astronomers wanted to take a peek @ the sky from their home computer.

Puck,
I just downloaded and installed the application on my computer and tried this out. It's amazing and fun to use. The below link is a youtube video of a person showing the viewer how to find the brown dwarf coming into our solar system using this application hence, the reason I downloaded it. Now I'm not an astronomer or even a novice so I'm not able to differentiate between anything I see when looking at the software or looking at the sky from my back porch. I was able find the object he is referencing in the video but have no idea if this is indeed the brown dwarf that is being talked about by the C's as well as others but, it is impressive at least to me. Maybe someone might be interested in taking a look.

the guy who uploaded says this to day

As of December 9th The object has a black box over it!!! They have decided to black it out just like google sky. More evidence that this was real!!!

Does he give the coordinates of the object? Couldn't figure out from the video. His "turtle" or "ancient dinosaur" is the constellation Leo. Without the coordinates there is no way to verify his claims. And the fact that an object can be detected by one instrument and not another is pretty natural, it depends on the telescope's power, its detector, the object's temperature, and whether or not there are dust clouds in the line of sight (which transmit infrared better than visible light) and so on.
It could possibly be "Psi Leonis" with a surface temperature of 3820°K (emitting more in the infrared than in the visible) at a distance of approximately 651 light years.
With no coordinates, it's just another Nibiru/end-of-the-world hysteric on youtube IMHO.

Hi mkrnhr,

I am not an astronomer, so I don't know what you mean about the coordinates. But I have located the object in Leo, it is at the same place as this guy claims it is. They did not erase it from the web application, or so I think.

Does coordinates mean RA and Dec values?

If so, they are RA: 09h48m03s and Dec: 13:17:17.

These are the only values in the program that resembles some kind of coordinates.

I checked the coordinates of Psi Leonis and this object seems to be different, though it is very close to Psi Leonis, you can see them together when you look at the program.

I think it is CW Leonis.

And there are also claims that CW Leonis may actually be the sun's companion:

My two cents, fwiw.

It can be CW Leonis indeed (I don't have the program to check but your coordinates are very close). Both the coordinates and the characteristics correspond. OSIT
Edit: FWIW, I found this online: _http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=9.799273&de=13.278793999999989&zoom=11&show_grid=1&show_constellation_lines=1&show_constellation_boundaries=1&show_const_names=0&show_galaxies=1&show_box=1&box_ra=9.799273&box_de=13.278794&box_width=50&box_height=50&img_source=DSS2
You can change the survey instrument in the button "DSS" next to the mouse in the left of the screen. You may see how things look different at different wavelength ranges (it's cool lol).
