This video shows a young man being asked to remove his socks *while being handcuffed*. Although there is no audio, you can clearly see the police officer forcing this man to the floor. Later you can see a dark patch on the floor which was clearly blood. Now imagine what would happen if you were thrown to the ground *while being handcuffed*. The natural human instinct is to put your hands out to break the fall. But not being able to do this resulted in this man receiving a broken jaw and 7 smashed teeth. Apparently the dental bill for this damage was AU$30,000.
What sickens me as much as this psychopathic display of brutality are the endless number of police apologists in the article's commentary section. "If he had been a good law-abiding citizen or was raised well by his parents, he wouldn't have been in police custody in the first place..." is the common theme of these apologists. These people actually condone the brutalisation of humans IF they have a supposed criminal background or were misbehaving or whatever. There seems to be a massive disconnect for these people between basic human rights and the breaking of these human rights in the video. These people, almost with certainty, would be the type to condone torture in certain circumstances. They are also incredibly gullible to not realise that countless totally INNOCENT people have been brutalised at the hands of corrupt police officers.
