Eliska is a young nurse who is involved in the resistance movement through her boyfriend the doctor. When it gets to dangerous for her she has to go underground and ultimately has to seek shelter in the mountainous countryside.
She saves the life of Joza, who works in a saw mill in a small mountain village, and he will take her into his home and hide her from the Nazis who are looking for her.
A marriage of convenience follows and despite her stubborness she ends up loving this man with a very big heart and finds happiness. And then the war catches up with them... (you have to watch it to find out more - sorry being a tease)
Even though the movie got off to a confusing start in the first 10 minutes it more than makes up for it in story, cinematography and acting. It was refreshing to see this resistance story from a Czech point of view.
