Brace Yourselves For War Between Iran and Israel

More tit for tat:

ISRAEL:
Earlier this morning, Israel announced that it had assassinated Iran's top military commander just days after his predecessor was killed in strikes. The IDF said its jets killed Ali Shadmani, Iran's highest-ranking military officer and chief war commander who was considered to be the closest person to Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. Israeli media says U.S. is preparing to join an attack on Iran.

IRAN:
The Iranian side reports the use of a new missiles against targets in Israel. The missile in question is the Hajj Qassem, named in memory of General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US bombing in Baghdad in January 2020.

Iranian sources write that the Hajj Qasem missile is capable of breaking through the system Defense-ABM with the help of a maneuvering unit. The missile itself is ballistic. According to some data, it is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 2,5 thousand km.

According to preliminary data, the missile was used to strike the Nevatim air base, one of the key Israeli Air Force facilities. It is reported that a fire broke out at the IDF air base after the strike.

Israeli UAV shot down in Kashan.

The deputy governor of Isfahan confirmed the information about the destruction of an Israeli drone by the IRGC's Khordad aerospace system in one of the defense rings of the nuclear facility in Natanz.

Holy smokes!

Wising up -
As missiles light up the skies between Israel and Iran, the USS Nimitz, a 50-year-old relic from the Cold War, is now en route to the Middle East.

Officially, it’s to ‘maintain stability.’ Unofficially? It’s starting to look a lot like bait.

Becoming apparent:
The effects of the Iranian strikes appear to have come as a great surprise to the Israeli authorities, who were certainly not prepared for such a substantial retaliation.

Well that hurts!
Haifa Oil Refinery announced that it has shut down all facilities, including the power plant responsible for some of the steam and electricity production, due to extensive damage caused by Iranian ballistic missile attacks.

This single refinery is responsible for production of sixty percent of ALL fuel used in Israel: Gasoline, Diesel, even Aviation fuel for Fighter Jets!

With this shut-down due to Iran missile hits, Israel is now OUT of production for sixty percent of its ability to refine the fuels used for daily life and for military use.

Peace negotiations just a ruse - the plan all along?

A sobering (and realistic) article:

Trumpets of Victory Are Sounding, but It's Alluring Melody Will Deceive Israelis
By Gideon Levy, Haaretz
Israel is viewing the first day's achievements with blinkered eyes, without thinking of the days that will follow. After several months with visits to a bomb shelter three times a night, with an economy in ruins and morale in the pits, we'll start wondering if it really was worth it and if there really was no other choice. Such questions are not even legitimate ones now.

Not everyone is brain dead or completely captured by war propaganda. A glimmer of hope that a real awakening will occur.

Not very smart thinking if so. What is their major issue with the current leadership? Do they not know that their country will become like Iraq, Syria, etc. if that happens?
That's the crux of it. Not very "smart" at all. When I interviewed this person a year ago, I did ask as to why they moved over from Iran and the response was along the lines that people are struggling due to the sanctions, most of them wanting to leave and Iranian leadership not doing much to assure the populace etc. This person's English is still not the best being second language so its difficult for them articulate it in very exact terms. Also, I don't think Iranian populace will be well informed about the goings on in the middle east for the past few years and a subset would already be anti-current regime due to social media programming.

Not sure, but it seems that there’s more going on with Trump than just his usual ’art of the deal’. I get the impression that he has been ’paid a visit’ or his mind has been manipulated either by human representatives of the ’secret rulers’ or 4D critters/technology. I mean, he had plenty of opportunities to start a war with Iran during his first term, yet he didn’t do it. So, I’m not buying the ”he’s been lying all along, all these years, about wanting peace”.

Paid a visit á la Jordan Peterson style or reminded of his golden pager gift…
I agree, his script flipped pretty fast in the last few months.

Agreed. There are however a few "realpolitik" type things that may have changed his mind: the Deep State/Israelis might have sold him the attack as an "art of the deal" kind of thing that would force the Iranians to sign the treaty. But then they went ahead anyway before any deal could be signed. Or they sold him the idea of a "decapitation strike" making it quick and easy with no consequences. Whatever. "You'll go down in history as the greatest dealmaker! Everybody will love you!" But since the situation now is what it is, what option does he have? Either abandon large parts of his base (but not all, plenty of "Muslims bad! Israel forever" types in MAGA as well), or he will go down in history (or so he thinks) as the president presiding over the destruction of Israel. Also, he might have realized that US dominance in the Middle East is crucial for the petrodollar. So what can he do?

Add to this that unfortunately, while Trump does seem to be not just a puppet and in some ways at least has his heart in the right place (which is enough to set him apart from the psychos that came before him), he has a massive ego coupled with, shall we say, certain intellectual limitations. And so they play him like a fiddle. Just look at Netanjahu's latest message where he praises Trump over the moon, referring to himself as a "Junior partner" etc.

But yes, while he was always crazy (which frankly was both good and bad at times: you need a crazy bastard to do what Trump has done), his craziness does seem to have upped a notch or two. Maybe a consequence of facilitating injustice and lies - these deteriorate the mind.

I do think Trump was and probably still is sincere in not wanting a war with Iran (or anyone else for that matter) but he is simply overpowered by pressures and there is only so much he can do as a president of the US in this day and age. While he is not being a superman either that can take everything. Basically, similar to what Florian Homm said, posted earlier in the thread.

My bet would be that Trump might still think he can avoid the worst by just feeding the wolves with “a limited engagement“ in “a limited short schock and awe campaign“ but I think this time around, if he should “give in an inch“, he might not be able to stop a pretty devastating domino effect. It will probably get out of hand quickly. It has always been much easier to start a conflict/war than to stop or end it.

The thing that really strikes me is whatever Trump is saying and threatening to do will probably have the opposite effect of what's intended, this "surrender, or else" crap will just totally inflame the situation, provoke an even more extreme response and backfire. If this is what he wants then he's saying the right thing. Wether it's because he's being manipulated like Jordan Peterson or otherwise who knows.

What Israeli government etc don't seem to be taking into account is the level of world anger toward Israel, and America and the West for backing them. I think they've miscalculated badly and it's going to backfire on such a scale they have never seen before.

Sometimes when I watch him respond to journalists, for example, I feel he's “overwhelmed” by events, a little stunned. And then the other day I saw him walking towards the car with his wife; he looked a little bent, tired. As if the situation he's caught in seems too much for him. Of course, he's playing strong, repeating like a parrot what he's told to say, and he probably doesn't like that. Maybe he's also being mentally manipulated. He knows he's in an Israeli prison. It's not funny.

What do you do when you're at an impasse?

We, mere humans, can ask for help, try to find solutions, back down and get out of this dead end. But who can he ask for help? He's engulfed himself in a nest of poisonous vipers. In fact, he's all alone. And like a robot, he will obey and let himself be carried away by the approaching storm, the tempest.
