ICE agent fatally shoots protester in Minneapolis: Self-defense or police brutality?

This new video on X shows the man appearing to help a woman then he was grabbed by the agents.

This looks really bad. Did the man pull a gun as he was fearing for his own life from the tactics of the ICE agents and, once a gun appeared, it was all over for that man . . .

There's got to be a better way to deal with these kind of situations and, is IDF training a factor here?

According to some news, some other ICE officers shot another person in Minneapolis.

Yes, 37-year-old White Male, Alex Pretti. The Department of Homeland Security said he had a handgun and “violently resisted” when agents tried to disarm him.

Also, a major demo against ICE presence in Minneapolis today:

In the second video underneath the reply to @amuse, the video lasting 1:14, you see the agent who shot him:

I can't see why he had to do that. Pretti was on his knees, head down, and not going anywhere. He was armed beforehand, but his gun had just been taken off him.

I disagree with the comment here: It doesn't show Pretti "reaching for his holster at 27 seconds". He's already got 3 bullets in him by then.

You see the first shot is fired into Pretti by ICE-agent-in-green-jacket after ICE-agent-in-grey-jacket has turned away with Pretti's gun in his hand.

As said before:

The conditions now seem such that things are not going to go well, osit.

This might remind:

Agree with this comment to a Sott article (my emphasis):

Question: Is all this ICE activity for the roundup of illegal immigrants or is it practice and testing systems for a future which is coming down the pipe for all US citizens? and very probably the rest of the western world.

Our economies have 2 or 3 years at most before they implode. What happens then?

In a video from the same angle but further away, it looked to me like the man who fired the shots approached and saw something. I was trying to tell what it was and wondered if maybe Pretti had hold of the guy’s leg in front of him, and maybe the guy had an ankle holster with a gun in it, hence the reaction from the shooter.

In the video, if you pause it at 14 seconds you can see a hand appear towards the bottom right of the picture near the ground, and it’s holding something. Maybe a magazine, I’m not sure. It’s that point the shooter pulls his gun.

I’d guess that’s why he fired. He saw Pretti pick something possibly metal up off the ground, or from his pocket, and assumed it was a gun.

But I could be wrong about whose hand it was and what was in it.

In fact, once the shooting starts and the crowd of men disperse, you can see that Pretti is holding two objects, one in each hand.

According to the community note on X to the video of Greg Bovino's statement
Videos from witnesses and independent analysis (including The New York Times and other media outlets) show that Pretti did not have a weapon in his hand nor did he brandish/point it before being knocked to the ground. He appears with a phone in one hand (filming) and the other raised or helping a woman who was pushed and pepper-sprayed by officers.

As @Puma just posted, my spouse also said it's being reported he was holding a phone which makes sense as many are filming what's happening. That he could still be holding onto a phone with five (?) agents wrestling him to the ground seems remarkable.

you can see that Pretti is holding two objects, one in each hand.

If one hand has a phone, what is in the other hand? Were the reported magazines in his pockets and why would he even grab for one of those? Surely he was smart enough to know not to reach for his gun - unless he really thought he was about to be killed and needed to defend himself at all costs (if ICE can do it, why can't a citizen).

Another very tragic, and what clearly should have been avoidable, deadly confrontation with ICE with ICE looking to be the aggressors. What circumstances preceded the shoving/tackling response that set it all in motion? Should it be determined Pretti never had the gun in his hand, then execution by ICE is going to be the verdict as I don't think "self-defense/in fear for my life" is going to fly this time.
