Will do. I don't think that 1.2 ohm is available here at the moment but will try to source them if I have any trouble. I'm using an 0.9 ohm in the nicopod, and I'm on my 3rd pod since around 22nd of October. I burnt the first coil out very fast because I switched it on before I'd put fluid in it while I was sussing out the settings and figuring out how to use it
I just got a xros5 as a backup as I have my tank and mod which is quite big and bulky and I find it easier to have a smaller pocket sized device (using a vapresso LUXE atm) for work as I can keep it in my pocket. Figured I would get a xros 5 as it is TGA approved and my LUXE will run out of pods/coils eventually and since here is Aus we are so limited it's worth having IMO.
I have bought my own supply of PG anbd VG (I bought 5L of each) and buy the mixology salt nicotine so I can make my own, it's much cheaper and you can dial in the strength and taste (if you want to add flavour). PG and VG can be bought on ebay or in bulk, universal flavours is a good place to find flavours too if you are so inclined. I use natural menthol and have experimented with a bunch of others. I sometimes add cherry, or black current or rasberry to the menthol but you can pretty much get whatever you like FWIW. universal flavours
I go through about 100ml a month, so over the last year I have basically gone through 400mls of PG 600mls of vg, 100ml of nicotine and about 30mls of flavour (roughly $100) which is so much cheaper than over a $100 a week in tobacco.
Unfortunately 0.6 and 0.8 are the only options we have here atm, why are they problematic?
- Because they have too much heating power and the vapor can get very hot, also influencing the taste, unless the wattage can be regulated to an appropriate level
and
- I had two incidents with DIY liquid(vg/water) and 0.8 ohm coils where the atomizer produced a hot watery steam and the flavor was off. It seemed as if the water was evaporated first, destroying the flavor on the way. This simply does not happen at a lower wattage.
For 100mg nicotine boosters, 100% VG with 20mg of nicotine, I found them cheaper on this site. A pack of 10 for €7.50, which works out to €0.75 per bottle.

Until then you have some(unspecified) wattage adjustment, at least.
So far I'm finding the XROS 5 with 0.8ohm coils superior to the Caliburn Nicopod. The draw is tighter, smoother, warmer and more consistent than the Nicopod with 0.9ohm coils. That basically makes it a more satisfying experience for me. One downside of the XROS 5 is that the pod on the XROS 5 is leakier and more care needs to be taken to keep it upright. The Nicopod is way more forgiving about not being kept upright.

So far I haven't had any problems of mention with the 0.8 ohm coil. They seem to last for the expected time frames.
Have been thinking about the issue of water in homemade mixes and the impact of water on the vaping experience. I don't know how much of an issue it is and I haven't tried making my own vaping fluid yet, so FWIW.
I was thinking of purifying the nicotine that has been extracted from the leaf to remove excess water. I'm thinking along the lines of using 50/50 pg/vg to add the nicotine to. Apparently the freezing point of nicotine is -79 deg C (-110 deg F) so it might be possible to put the extracted water/nicotine mix into the freezer and wait for the water to freeze to separate the nicotine out.
No word that I can see that the 1.2 ohm coils will come in, so I am still on the 0.8ohm ones. So far so good, they last a long time.
I haven't tried using distilled water as yet, I am still using 50/50 pg/vg mix and 10mg nicotine. II bought a bunch on nicotine concentrate before they banned the 100ml 100mg bottles, and have been adding to my stockpile with the 60ml 50mg bottle but haven;t tried them as yet. I store my nicotine in the fridge fwiw rather than freezing.

There is no issue with water, except maybe with subohm coils. I am not sure yet, whether these were isolated incidents that I had and whether the atomizer itself is to blame. I used a Joytech atomizer when this happened. They have a history of having good ideas that end up in badly working products.
Nice idea. Not sure if it works. My current plan is to evaporate the water at moderate temperature.

The question is then where it separates, on top, at the bottom or as bubbles inside the frozen water.
So you are using just water, vg and nicotine? Is pg the less “healthy” or some other reason?

Yes.
There is quite a number of people who do not tolerate it well. Much less so with vg. I wrote on this in post #1.

I've been using an Oxva Nexlim 0.8 pod, 100%VG+nicotine and I haven't had any desire to go back to cigarettes which I stopped probably almost a year ago. I haven't tried adding distilled water yet, so maybe I'll give that a shot.
