taking into account that we give the power to facebook

why go somewhere else from facebook?
they can enslave us and decide for us what is good or not (if there is something bad, the critical sense and the debate should be able to counteract the thing).
they give power to entities like cambridge analytica, the nsa...
they could blackmail us and have the totally supremcy of social network that they could blackmail us and we would have to submit ourselves.
they format reality. we have no power upon the policies and structure of the network. we are democratic lovers, so, why not go on something that is more like this? are we already slaves and without optimism toward our power and influence? why do we enslave us like that?
they make money wih our data.
they bought VR societies so they will maybe have a powerful power upon us in the future. let's give power to something else. facebook is not organic. its products are not grassfed. some of these are, but, that's totally under they control. we don't know what are their goals.

so, let's give power to something that merits it.

we have to free ourselves from mainstream things. we have to create and give attention to something that is from us, that's make the promotion of true democraty, not capitalism. let's try, and, maybe things would move and even esthetical movements would be applied to this decentralized social network.

how much people from SOTT are we on facebook? let's use our voice.

we could maybe shape the skin of the network, or maybe even create a sott diaspora server.

what do think of this?

see you.

Just as an aside: Many youngsters are said to be avoiding Facebook. The reason being that you obviously don't want your parents to "follow you" on Facebook. So, well done, Millenials...

Another important item would be ditching Google Search. :bye:

For years I had been under the impression that only Google could do comprehensive searches.
Recently I moved to DuckDuckGo which, despite of its hilarious name, works well for me and is said to provide at lot more privacy.

Another reason that youngsters and teenagers are avoiding Facebook is because it is not "cool" enough for them. In other words, they avoid Facebook, but they move onto other social media websites such as Instagram, Tumblr, Disqus, which are little different. So no, I don't think they deserve your praise yet.

The main problem with Diaspora is that few people are using it, and those who are, are of the same mindset, i.e. privacy and conspiracy minded. So we would be in an echo chamber there.

In case you don't notice, we have some presence on VK. See SOTT page here. While not yet popular in English speaking countries, VK is very popular in Europe and Russia. It is also a Russian company and has to follow Russian laws.

That would be a worthwhile alternative if someone wants to ditch Facebook, IMO.

Yeah. VK, nice. And its owners and their political views are not that bad :

The story of VK and its founder Pavel Durov.
"Founder Pavel Durov's dismissal
Founder Pavel Durov was dismissed as CEO in April 2014 after he had failed to retract a (according to himself) prank April fools letter of resignation.[21] Durov then claimed the company had been effectively taken over by Vladimir Putin's allies[21][23][70] and suggested his ousting was the result of his refusal to hand over personal details of users to the Russian Federal Security Service and his refusal to shut down a VK group dedicateda to anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny.[21][23]" Wikipedia page of VKontakte

But, if the winds turn, somebody could take over VKontakte. But yes, if the wind turns more, the Internet could also be totally controlled. So, yes... should we act like the total control was already here?

When you know that opponents like that Knesia Sobchak exist, you know why control has to be! Like Benjamin Bayart said, dictatorship is not bad, as soon as the leader is enlightened.

See a debate between her and Putin here. She is the daughter of a politician that was close to Putin. She is called "the Russian Paris Hitlton".

But then, we are told that journalists and Putin opponents are shot deads, like Boris Nemtsov.
The link is so direct to Putin that it seems strange that he ordened the murder. Like, "hey, i killed him". But, what is sure is that perverted people (politically) could want to change the system in a way that is not "good".

That Boris Nemtsov was for an economic reform. We all like economic reforms, especially, the mass citizens.

But, even if Diaspora* is not totally visited and thus less people could touched by the SOTT content, would it be a way to have both of them and make a connection between them in order to drain more people from the darkness?

Well...
