George Floyd's Death, Protests and Riots across the US

In my own personal experience however I just don't see it. I live in an area where there is a large black, Hispanic, and Asian presence, and I lived in the south for a time. All of my interactions (other than once in Houston when I entered a bus with all black people, who merely laughed at me) with minorities have been positive, and with no thought given about race. No one in my family, or friends or even work associates over the years, has come out and said anything malicious about any race in general (though individual members, heck yeah!).

I think the whole notion of "systemic racism" is based on primitive and flawed thinking. The concept immediately collapses once you ask "what precisely, specifically, do you mean by that?"

The "theory" operates with a primitive form of induction: look, here is a crime committed by a white against a black, and there is another one, and over there is a third one. Ergo, let's postulate a general law that explains these incidents: white man is racist by default and has built racism into the very fabric of his culture and society.

Needless to say, this is absurdly sloppy thinking and one giant fallacy. Heck, even if there was still a law discriminating against blacks, or even segregation, this still a) wouldn't explain supposedly racist incidents without much, much further data/analysis and b) wouldn't imply that "white man is inherently racist and has built racism into the very fabric of society". It would just mean that there is legal discrimination against a racial minority. Of course, if you define "systemic racism" as "legal discrimination", then it would be systemic racism. But this is not how people define it (because there is no legal discrimination anymore), and you wouldn't even need a special word for it if it was so.

We cannot just go ahead and postulate some far-reaching general law that happens to explain certain facts, because there is an almost unlimited number of other theories that could explain these facts just as well. This guy makes some very good points about "systemic racism" and how the totally superficial theory falls apart when you actually look at some details:

So we need to be precise and differentiate between the facts we observe and some abstract laws we postulate (i.e. sloppy inductive thinking). Unfortunately, we can be so easily manipulated by our drive to lazily postulate general laws - all the media has to do is selectively report a string of incidents, and there we go: "it must be systemic racism!" or "It must be blacks are inherently evil!", "Muslims hate Christians", "white men are rapists" etc.

At the end of the day, as Collingwood pointed out, there are just events - and these are incredibly complex and deep, because they involve humans and therefore all the complexity of human life and the human mind. Real, hard, detailed thinking and lots of data are required to understand such events, and a "re-enacting" of events in our minds based on this understanding, as opposed to just referring to some pet theory. In Atlanta another dead person is reported and who was shot by police. His name is Rayshard Brooks and he was also black. Certainly, it will not help to stabilize the overall situation in the USA, to the contrary.

The Atlanta police chief stepped down Saturday hours after the death of a 27-year-old Black man who was shot by an officer while fleeing during a struggle at a Wendy's drive-thru late Friday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Rayshard Brooks had been asleep in his car in a Wendy's drive-thru, causing other customers to drive around the car, the Bureau of Investigation said. Police were dispatched to the Wendy's around 10:30 p.m., and conducted a sobriety test on Brooks, who failed the test, according to the officials.

"During the arrest, the male subject resisted and a struggle ensued," the Bureau of Investigation said. "The officer deployed a Taser. Witnesses report that during the struggle the male subject grabbed and was in possession of the Taser. It has also been reported that the male subject was shot by an officer in the struggle over the Taser."

One officer was treated for an injury and discharged after the confrontation. Brooks died in the hospital after surgery.

Police Chief Erika Shields is immediately stepping down after the shooting, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced in a news conference Saturday afternoon. She also called for the termination of the police officer who shot Brooks and for another officer to be placed on administrative duty.

"While there may be debate as to whether this was an appropriate use of deadly force, I firmly believe that there is a clear distinction between what you can do and what you should do. I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force and have called for the immediate termination of the officer," Bottoms said.

Bottoms said Shields would continue in a different role "to be determined" in the police department.

"As Dr. King reminded us many years ago, there is a fierce urgency of now that calls upon each of us, myself included, to be held accountable to the communities in which we are entrusted to serve," Bottoms said. "To the family of Mr. Brooks, there are no words strong enough to express how sincerely sorry I am for your loss. I do hope that you will find some comfort in the swift actions that have been taken today."

Bottoms called Shields a "solid member of APD for over two decades."

"And because of her desire that Atlanta be a model of what meaningful reform should look like across this country, Chief Shields has offered to immediately step aside as police chief so that the city may move forward with urgency in rebuilding the trust so desperately needed throughout our community," Bottoms said.

Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Rodney Bryant will serve as the interim chief, Bottoms said.

Wendy's surveillance video published by the Bureau of Investigations Saturday afternoon appears to show officers arriving in a vehicle to the drive-thru parking lot. The vehicle can be seen pulling up to another car, but the officers and Brooks cannot be seen in the video.

About half an hour later, Brooks can be seen running away from two officers, who chase after him. As Brooks runs away, he turns back toward one officer and points the Taser, and that officer fires his weapon. Brooks falls to the ground and appears to remain motionless.

As the two officers approach Brooks on the ground, bystanders can be seen getting out of their cars and recording video.

Here is a video of the arrest from the article:

A friend of mine from Seattle shared some interesting links with me. Apparently CHAZ has now been renamed CHOP (Capitol HIll Occupied Protest), which kind of seems to tie it back more to the OWS movement back in 2011 (glory, those starry-eyed days of a non-woke populist left).

One story that's been circulating is that the Seattle Police Department abandoned the East Precinct Building due to arson threats.

According to a couple of these reddit links, the impetus that drove the withdrawal was a bogus pretext.

This post alleges other disinformation being promulgated.

One on-the-ground report of the CHAZ/CHOP was shared here, for what it's worth:

Apparently Fox has been recycling (or appropriating?) a photo of an armed gentlemen.

Oh dear! -Calm behavior during a color revolution? That's simply not in keeping with the agenda! You can't have things settling down to a normal human baseline for too long. (I would imagine that even Leftists, being mechanical humans, are apt to being basically decent and normal if you stop needling them and winding them up with propaganda.)

The two incompatible narratives both need to seem strong and convincing.

Probably the idea is that once established, the occupants must believe in the inerrant goodness of their choices. These are Leftists, after all. They're on the Right Side of history! -They'll be allowed to take ownership of their new territory and identity. How many days does it take to establish branding and cement new behavior?

After a rest period, I imagine we'll see the HAARP array rolled around, that cell phone network aimed, and high frequency crazy rays beamed at some group to activate their werewolf genes, on one or the other side of the barricades. Probably both.

Let's not forget that the whole point of this isn't to see how the social experiment of seized territory works out within the framework of urban America. Those experiments have already been performed; that's what the last century was about. What we're seeing right now is a deliberate application with specific objectives in mind. Only we little human participants think we're in the middle of something bold and new.

I find it very interesting that these kids have been accused, (even accusing each other), of merely LARPing. (Live Action Role Play).

British police running from hordes of alcohol fuelled right wingers

Reporters aren't safe from this war crazed far right protestors

Innocent people being escorted by the police to safety... The right wingers are on a war path, seeking blood in alcohol fuelled rage.

From the events of today, it looks like the right are mobilising in violence against the left. They descended upon London with one thing in mind, that was to seek out and confront the lefties... They fueled themselves with copious amounts of alcohol, worked themselves up into a huge rage and went on a warpath. Sadly, most lefties were nowhere to be seen as they had been warned by the police to not hold mass events today. The few lefties that ventured out were mostly left cowering behind the police line, hiding away from the righties who were out for blood.

I fear for violence in London as night descends... The righties should go back home as London is littered by huge migrant gangs that do not have any quelms stabbing anything and everything in sight. In the cover of darkness and without the huge police lines or reporters filming anything and everything in sight, I fear the worst might come forward from both sides.

In war, there is no winner.

@SOTTREADER I am not sure if I am detecting the tone of your recent posts correctly. Are you being slightly satirical/sarcastic, or do you genuinely believe that the backlash against this is solely made up of " war crazed far right protestors"?

This video shows more. This is all of us if they abolish the police.

It really looks like nazi Germany, but this time, the whites are the target instead of the jews.
If it goes on, we will see people staying with people of their own racial group, for fear of being attacked if they get close of another group. People will be divided without segregation laws put in place.

I believe the backlash yesterday was made up of war crazed right wingers, yes. They had only one intention in mind, and that was to attack and physically fight the left.

Tommy Robinson mobilised the right and told them to go to London on Saturday.

Warning explicit language!

The police KNEW these right wingers were activated and were going to descend upon London.... Not to protest, but essentially on a seek out and destroy mission. They went to London to find and fight left wingers.

The police told the organisers from the left to cancel their big parade which they did.

The right wingers turned up, drank all day, shouted copious abuse at police, chanted racist slogans, did all sorts and got in altercations with the police and the few left wingers that defied the police advise and turned up.

I will give Tommy Robinson some credit as he tried to deactivate those who he had activated the day before but sadly it was too little to late.

Here was his video trying to de-escalate the situation

Having said the above, I don't believe those who disagree with the left are war crazed but I believe those who turned up yesterday from the right were. I base this on their actions on the day - the aggression, the drinking, the chanting, the fighting etc. Very scary situation.

I´d like to add a few points.

After an earthquake struck Zagreb in May, those same far-right football hooligans were first to come and to help their fellow neighbor. Fans of rival football groups from different parts of Croatia, came to Zagreb to join hands to help evacuate hospitals, help people to move, and later to join civil protection and clean up the streets.
Didn´t read anywhere that Antifa or any other left movement involved or offered helping hands.

The same happened in 2017 during heavy wildfires in Dalmatia:
Again, fans of rival football groups sat on the bus and went off to Dalmatia to help firefighters.
Again, didn´t read about any left movement involved.

Then we have 2014; when a great flood hit Slavonia:
Football fans across the country were collecting help for the people (blankets, food, diapers,....) and went with buses to help people in need.
And again, I didn´t read about any left movement involved.

And now we have a situation with Antifa.
Since the police is not allowed to do anything about those rioters, I´m not surprised that the same football "hooligans", veterans and others took the situation in their hands, especially now when we´re talking about Europe here. Why? Because they are also big patriots (nationalists?) who will not allow any group to vandalize their city/country.

The point is: it´s not all just black or white, nor peaceful protestors vs drunk hooligans, nor left vs right.
There is a big shade of grey in-between...

...and puppet masters on top.....

I think you would do well to question the amount of faith you place in the information coming from mainstream media sources, and consider how much of this guides your perception on certain issues. This was reiterated several times on the corona thread, and on this thread also.

Notice how your position is remarkably consistent with the majority of UK headlines posted this morning?

Boris Johnson: 'Racist thuggery' will be met with 'the force of the law'

Boris Johnson has vowed that far right protesters will be "met with full force of the law" after a day of violence clashes with police in London.

The Prime minister said "racist thuggery has no place on our streets" after 3,000 supporters of groups including Britain First and the Democratic Football Lads Alliance (DFLA) descended on the capital for what they said was a mission to protect the statue of Winston Churchill and the Cenotaph.

Mr Johnson tweeted: "Anyone attacking the police will be met with full force of the law.

"These marches and protests have been subverted by violence and breach current guidelines.

"Racism has no part in the UK and we must work together to make that a reality."

Revolting moment thug SPITS on a woman enjoying a picnic in Hyde Park after far-right protesters clashed with police during Black Lives Matter rally
1592132510515.png

A thug spat on a woman as she enjoyed a picnic in Hyde Park after far-right protesters clashed with police during anti-racism rallies.

A mob brandishing beer cans was filmed descending on the peaceful group of friends, who do not appear to have been involved in the protests, before shouting, kicking their picnic rug and bellowing 'f*** off!'.

The worried friends quickly move away as bystanders come forward to defend them, and tell the mob to 'go away'. A witness said police officers quickly arrived to disperse the crowd.

Violence erupted yesterday as far-right activists clashed with Black Lives Matter supporters and riot police in Trafalgar Square and Waterloo Station, London.

More than 100 people were arrested for offences including breach of peace, violent disorder, assault on officers, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class A drugs, and drunk and disorder.

Boris Johnson has condemned protesters for 'racist thuggery' and Labour's shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said he was 'extremely disturbed' by the 'completely unacceptable' scenes on Britain's streets.

A 28-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency after a suspected far-right protester was photographed urinating next to the memorial to PC Keith Palmer, who was stabbed to death in the 2017 Westminster terror attack.

Indeed, there were thugs who attended who committed abhorrent acts including violence, spitting at people and public urination. But your assumption that the only ones who attended were "far-right thugs" or "war crazed far-righters" is simply ludicrous. We should not paint everyone with the same brush.

The video below shows military veterans who apparently attended with the sole intention of protecting the cenograph:

It is simply lazy-thinking to assume that all of the patriots who attended yesterday were seeking out violence. Have you considered the possibility that some people who possess a strong nationalist sentiment may simply want to protest against what they perceive (quite rightly) to be an attempt to destroy of their culture and nation? After all, it is the nationalists who appear to have largely resisted being swept away with the far-left ideology.

I am in no way condoning the violence, and that should certainly be punished! However, the media's position on this is completely lop-sided and only serve to further increase racial tensions and division.

First, we see very little or no coverage of the violent acts and crimes committed by the far-left/antifa/BLM protesters. In fact, it would seem that they have been allowed to get away with public lynchings, vandalism, burning buildings, and many other forms of criminality without consequence.

And now, at the first sight of nationalists who seek to protect war monuments and other cultural artifacts, the mainstream media is crying "far-right thugs" and "white supremacist racists", widely televising the violence, and making comparisons with the "peaceful" anti-racist BLM protests. It is essentially gaslighting a large proportion of the general population who acknowledge the insanity of the radical far-left and firmly disagree with it.

Of course, this is all very predictable. But it is our job to sift through what it true and what is manipulation. If you adopt beliefs that are perfectly in line with mainstream media headlines, it is highly likely that your perception is being manipulated and managed from the outside. After all, you are obviously familiar with SOTT ;-) so you know better than most the sheer amount of lies and deception spread by the mainstream media.

I urge you to read the following post which I came across and shared on FB recently, which predicts events quite accurates (I think):

@Keyhole if I may ask, how much of yesterday's events did you watch and how much tracking of the build up did you do prior to the protests yesterday?

You say that there's lazy thinking on my part and that my view is manipulated. From last weekend, to this weekend, I have been keeping track of events - on what the key influencers are saying on both sides, on what the police and security services were expecting.

Yesterday, I didn't read any headlines, I watched the events live, from Ruptly... I watched it for hours. Nothing but live footage from the ground, from different perspectives. I followed different live streams and was paying attention to what a lot of people were saying.

I put in the time, I put in the effort, I didn't just read headlines or watch 10 second Twitter clips.

I don't feel it justified to say that the view is being manipulated.

The militant elements of the right wing people that turned up overtook the day. Beyond the fighting or anything like that, the amount of swearing and cursing that was present in the right wing groups was beyond belief...

I followed a particular camera man who was in one of the more peaceful groups and he got sworn at, pelted, threatened to the point he had to leave the area and go behind police lines to film from a distance.

I don't know how much attention you paid to what was happening, even the mundane things? What people were talking about? What their intentions were?

I don't know if you noticed how much alcohol pretty much everyone was drinking within the right wing sector?

I don't know how much of that you watched? I don't know if you paid attention to the abuse the police got?

I don't know if you noticed that the left wingers were on Trafalgar Square and the right wingers walked up to them and literally started attacking them - throwing bottles, fireworks, cursing etc. I don't know if you saw the police trying desperately to intervene... I don't know if you heard the woman shout to the group of the left that was on this square to stick with her and stay together as the mayhem ensued. I don't know if you saw the police come in, with horses and everything to push the right back across the square and onto the other side of the street then form a huge line?

I don't know how much of this you saw?

Whatever peaceful right wing protests or veterans that were present were overtaken by the more militant, drunk and aggressive elements within the group.

That's simply how events played out as the day progressed. There's no manipulation, that's just how it happened. You can watch the footage of the whole day, from beginning to end and you can see how things progressed and escalated as the day went on, people got more drunk, more aggressive etc.

I have seen the live streams of the violence, but I have also seen videos groups who were not participating in violence as well.

Just to be clear, I am not saying that there were no thugs or violent people who attended yesterday's event. The footage speaks for itself.

However, I am highlighting your apparent tendency to think in black-and-white terms and buy into the narrative that the media is pushing. If we refer back to your previous comment:

I believe the backlash yesterday was made up of war crazed right wingers, yes. They had only one intention in mind, and that was to attack and physically fight the left.

The above statement is essentially lumping all of the attendees into one category, which is exactly what the mainstream narrative is trying convince people of to discredit the non-violent voices who have genuine concerns.

There were hundreds, if not thousands of people who showed up in London yesterday. It is a sweeping assumption that every one of them was a "war-crazed right winger" who's only intention was to attack and physically fight the left. It is exactly that flavor of black-and-white thinking which prevents one from rationally assessing the situation and perceiving the nuance which is always present. Reality is never that simple, unfortunately!

Furthermore, it is that kind of black-and-white thinking which fosters the tendency towards tribalism and "taking sides" - which is something which we must do our best to resist in these troubling and confusing times. People are becoming increasing polarized in their views on this (highly nuanced) set of events. We are being forced to side with the Left, or the Right. Like Laura has said in the past, there is a "program" for everybody... and the terrain is becoming more difficult to navigate by the day.

And so in relation to this discussion, I am of the opinion that making sweeping claims about a large group of people (in this case, the war-crazed far right) is falling into the trap that destroys critical thinking abilities OSIT.

Just adding a bit more balance to my previous post.

Watching the more militant aspects of the left (looters, antifa etc) and the more militant aspects of the right (at least here in the UK), I think they are 2 sides of the same coin.

There's nothing virtuous or of good character on either side. On the right, they are fueled by alcohol (and cocaine) that works them into a rage. On the cocaine bit, I heard a report yesterday that the protesters were not only on alcohol but also on cocaine which was really firing them up. They swear a lot and are very aggressive! Nothing dignified about them at all. Also, they are very open to physical fights. At least from what I saw yesterday, this group was mostly men who were more towards middle age.

On the left, the militant elements are mostly young and comprised of both men and women. They are more about damage to property, vandalism etc plus a whole bunch of SJW ideology. They aren't as keen to 'fight' and will run if challenged by a large enough group.

On neither side of these extremes did I see anything virtuous. At the moment I think the militant left is winning.

Not only are they winning the war in the Street, they are winning the political, philosophical and economic war.

What I saw yesterday was the right can't win this battle by going on a physical confrontation as that brings out the more rabid and blood thirsty elements within that group and to be frank, these guys are more terrifying than their equivalents on the left. These guys on the right will lose any ground they've made if they repeat the scenes from London on a regular basis.
