Beirut Explosion

When one sees this picture from Presstv one notices the silos, that they were badly damaged and that the debris from the explosion piled up along the sides of the silos, but if the silos had not been there, would the damage to the town have been worse?

The area behind the silos can be seen in the picture below:

It was a pretty big crater as this Tweet shows:

Here is a compilation of clips of the explosion that created the above crater:
If Trump and his Generals suggest an attack, is that the closest one can get them to say they know who is playing? Or was that as irresponsible as former aids complain about according to this article: Presstv
Trump was criticized by Brett McGurk, a former national security official in his administration as well as under former presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush, who said his remarks were "wildly irresponsible".

"It's wildly irresponsible for a president to stand at the [White House] podium and spitball about an international incident like this as hundreds of casualties are still missing or being treated," he said on Twitter.

He added that the US Defense Department "should clean this up tonight".

Meanwhile, Walter Shaub, a former director of the US Office of Government Ethics, said the US should "avoid speculation and wait until we have information from a reliable source".

"The President of the United States of America is not a reliable source," he noted.
Perhaps not, but is the US Government reliable?

Me I don't know but all the videos I saw about this tragedy reminds me 9/11. The destruction, the impact, this is huge.
My initial reaction is why are there so many excellent videos of the actual explosion? Reminds me of the Da nci ng Is rae lis of 911 fame.

The striking thing for me is the timing again i.e. clear weather, daytime, summer. I'm no actuary but that seems like the perfect time on a Tuesday for the maximum number of witnesses. Then you have to consider almost to the day the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (it's early days in terms of the investigation but it's hard not to acknowledge a visual symbolism).

The Hezbollah and the Resistance movement's allies would be accused as main culprits.

By Mehdi Azizi - Aug 5, 2020
Good Article @sToRmR1dR
Manipulation of the internal protests, which were initially formed with economic purposes, did so little in obstructing the process of forming the new Lebanese government, although such uproars could bring about turmoil for a short period.

On the other hand, forcing the Resistance Movement to either join the protesters or be removed from the political arena was the next project that was pursued. Hezbollah had no choice; either it had to stand by the protesters, which meant contributing to the scenario of making Lebanon insecure, or let its popular position among the protesters would be tarnished.
...
The developments in the past days can reveal “warning signals” about foreign intervention and pre-determined plots that sought to push Lebanon into a new scenario. The main objective of such a scenario is to provide perimeter security for the Israeli regime and destroy the deterrence of the Resistance Movement and to compensate for the defeat in Syria. Some of these signals have commonalities with the situation after the assassination of the former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri in 2005.
...
Even if we accept that the Israelis and the United States were not involved in the Beirut bombing and put aside the possibility of any sabotage plan, they will certainly not ignore this opportunity to seek their political exploitation and to pave the way for shaping a new Lebanese political structure.

The explosion has once again provided an opportunity for Al-Hadath, Al-Arabiya, and Western media outlets to fan the flames, which are likely to be burning by the US.

French Foreign Minister's visit to Beirut and France’s pressures to the country, along with the US ambassador's occasional interventions, the Israeli regime’s movements on the occupied borders, US spy planes patrolling the Lebanon-Syria coast a day before the Beirut bombing, the meeting last week between the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US and the Israeli regime, the sudden resignation of Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti, foreign and regional pressure to overthrow the Lebanese cabinet, and the identification of vulnerable Lebanese areas by the Zionist regime are among the most critical events in Lebanon in recent weeks, that should be considered while reviewing the Beirut explosion and the goals behind it.
...
It should be noted that the port of Beirut is the main port of Lebanon, through which more than 70% of the country's imports are carried out to provide the basic needs of the people; in such circumstances, the Lebanese economy will be seriously damaged. It is in the interest of the opponents of the Resistance and could help them put maximum pressure on the Resistance Movement, or at least to moderate or neutralize its measures against to the Zionist regime.

Therefore, it seems that all the pieces of the puzzle have been prepared to put Lebanon in a state of economic and political turmoil in order to design a new scenario.

From the very first moment, the Saudi and American media and the Zionist-affiliated elements inside and outside Lebanon will exert every effort to accuse Hezbollah and the Resistance Movement’s allies as the main culprits.

The Americans, who did not take a clear stance immediately after the explosion, will undoubtedly try to impose their wishes on the Lebanese government under the pretext of rebuilding or providing financial assistance in the turbulent economic situation in Lebanon.

Certainly, their most important wish would be the gradual elimination of Resistance from the Lebanese political arena as well as the implementation of the Caesar Law on Syria.

It is claimed that Iranian mullahs and Hezbollah joined forces, planning to start another Middle East war.
Another war was averted.

"The new ethos embraced by our allies is "NO MORE WARS. To avoid war, they must be armed to the teeth and willing to take breathtaking action. They are, on both counts."

The insinuation is that it was Saudi. Reference the very warm welcome President Trump received on his visit.

According to many witnesses today on report, a roar of an aircraft engine was heard seconds before the explosion. But according to air reports, no plane flew through the city at that time!
The same was noted in the lebanese president assasination in 2007. Bastian shared a link in the french section here.
An article by Thierry Messian talked about a special weapon. Since then, I imagine that weapon has been upgraded and more powerfull, or rather there are many models according to the aim.
It's in french, so here is a deepl translation from a passage:

[...] everyone at the crime site can see a deep, wide crater that an explosion on the surface cannot dig...

What strikes you when you look at the photos and videos taken just after the attack is the fire. Everywhere car bodies and objects of all kinds are burning. Then it's the bodies of the victims: charred on one side and intact on the other. This is very surprising and has nothing to do with what conventional explosives cause.

The theory of a mixture of RDX, PETN and TNT in the bomber's van does not explain this damage.

If you look closely at the photos of Rafiq Hariri's body, you will notice strange details: his rich solid gold watch has melted on his wrist, on the contrary, the refined fabric collar of his luxury shirt is intact around his neck.

So what happened?

The explosion released a blast of unusually intense heat of unusually short duration. Flesh exposed to the blast was instantly charred, while the back of the bodies was not burned.

High-density objects (such as the gold watch) absorbed this heat and were destroyed. On the contrary, low-density objects (such as the thin linen of a shirt collar) did not have time to absorb the heat and were therefore not touched.

The remains of Rafiq Hariri.

The videos also show that members of some of the bodies were severed by the explosion. Curiously, the cuts are clean, as if they were limestone statues. There are no prominent broken bones or torn flesh. That's because the explosion absorbed oxygen and dehydrated the bodies, which became brittle. Several witnesses, who were present near the attack, reported breathing problems in the hours that followed. The authorities wrongly interpreted this as the somatisation of a psychological trauma.

These findings are the b.a.-ba of any criminal investigation. It was necessary to start with that, but they are not included in the reports of the "professionals" to the Security Council.

When we asked military experts what explosives could cause this damage, they referred to a new type of weapon that has been researched for decades and reported on in scientific journals. By combining nuclear and nanotechnological knowledge, we can create an explosion whose power is precisely controlled. The weapon is programmed to destroy everything within a given perimeter, calculated to the nearest centimetre.

According to our military specialists, this weapon also causes other damage: it exerts strong pressure on the area of the explosion. When the explosion is stopped, the heaviest objects are thrown upwards. For example, cars have been blown up into the air.

One detail does not deceive: this weapon uses a nano quantity of enriched uranium, the radiation of which is measurable. One passenger in Rafiq Hariri's armoured car survived. Former minister Bassel Fleyhan was transported to a prestigious French military hospital for treatment. Doctors were astonished to find that he had come into contact with enriched uranium. No one has made any connection with the attack.

Technically, this weapon takes the form of a small missile a few tens of centimetres long. It must be fired from a drone. Indeed, several witnesses claimed to have heard an aircraft flying over the crime scene. That is why the investigators asked the United States and Israel, which have observation satellites in permanent position, to send them the pictures they have [...]

Indeed ZIA...

Here in the Brazillian News (TV Globo News) a Brazilian Woman interviewed from Beirut yesterday Spoke of the same occurrence (to hear the roar of an aircraft engine...).

It is possible that The Cyber-attack of the port infrastructure that generated the two first explosions was followed by a Laser guided Tactical Nuke that ignited the deflagration of the the smoke of the burn of Ammonia that was immediately generated by the THIRD Tactical nuke explosion...
The Ammonia smoke is Literally a SMOKESCREEN of the detonation of the tactical nuke.

I assume the you all are aware of the amount of cyber-attacks that are in full swing in Iran... recently (Russia, China et al.)

Israel is sending a clear message to some (see Trump acknowledging the incident as an attack). Surely He and his generals are in the now.

Just my two cents... :cool2::cool2::cool2:

And here’s Trump’s initial take on it:

veterans today is reporting on this catastrophy as follows

It looks very much like the Lebanese have invented the ship full of fireworks story to cover the truth. Molana-Allen* is almost certainly correct – that it was some kind of missile or guided bomb dropped by a jet fighter-bomber.

Or are they going with the one we have heard so many times before when tactical nukes have been used – that it was a store of explosives that went up: Of course they would deny it was an attack, no-one ever admits a nuke went off, it’s terribly bad for public opinion.

They cite Jeff Smith of the International Atomic Energy Agency

Jeff Smith of the IAEA confirms this is a nuclear explosion. The lies about fireworks in ships and fertilizer are what we always get. You don’t store either one downtown in a major city like Beirut under any circumstances. Not much farming in Beirut and they don’t celebrate the 4th of July there.

For what it's worth...

Sorry, the article shared by Bastian is this one: (the one above was given in a reference at the end of the article ;-) )

A new weapon was used at the beginning of July against 7 Iranian ships in the Persian Gulf [1], then on 4 August in the port of Beirut.
In all eight cases, the smoke cloud was unrelated to that observed in conventional explosions, but formed a mushroom cloud as in atomic explosions.

In Beirut, the explosion shook the earth 200 kilometers away at a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, according to the German Geoscience Center (GFZ). It was this vibration and not the blast of the explosion that destroyed many parts of the city.

It also caused a giant wave and lifted some cars in the harbour, not pushing water and vehicles sideways, but as if they had been pressed against the sea and the immediate site of the disaster.
These attacks come at a time when the judgement of the United Nations Special Tribunal for Lebanon is expected on 7 August [2]. It should be postponed.

Ammonium nitrate is extremely difficult to detonate, even when mixed w/t diesel there is no way a blasting cap can make it explode. You need a strong shockwave and not a simple hammer knock or projectile impact. My guess is military explosive detonated nearby or a bomb planted in the ammonium nitrate depot.

A video from Al Jazeera English:

Beirut blast: Tracing the explosives that tore the capital apart

It was only after a huge explosion ripped through Beirut that most people in Lebanon learned about the 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in a hangar at the city's port. And in the explosion's devastating aftermath, many Lebanese are expressing immense shock and sadness at the destruction, and great anger towards those who allowed this to happen. Mark Daou is a former candidate for the Lebanese parliament, he joins us from Beirut to discuss the latest updates.

Mr Daou spoke of "excessive pressure" to keep that huge amount of materials there after 6 years. He questions why they were kept in one place and not away from the port which is a critical element of the infrastructure "knowing the threat."

In conclusion he says "This is mass murder committed by the negligence and the political interests of the few who are creating political power in this country and of using its people."

In the middle of this huge tragedy and images that are really something, and videos I saw this picture that touched me so much. The lives of so many people destroyed, their little business, their dreams, their day by day effort to survive. It is the hecatombe for them, and how much pain and solitude.
