The Prayer of the Soul

It took me unusual long time to compose, and much more unusual long time to write notes and record this demo. It would need proper recording (real piano, real vocalist, good equipment) to sound good. For me it is the only way to focus on words - to sing. Due to language barrier probably whenever i do EE (usually everyday) and there's Laura reading The Prayer of the Soul at the end, my mind starts to wander, which is not good. If i only sing in my mind, together with listening to Laura's reading, i can focus on the meaning of the words. As they say, who sings, prays twice.

So here it is:

https://soundcloud.com/jansuswillo/the-prayer-of-the-soul-piano-demo/s-Ap1L1 - piano

If anybody likes it and would like to sing, i can transpose score to any key.
I have an idea of writing full orchestral score, to mix home recordings of all instruments, if there would be poeple who would like to participate in such venture.

Very nice!!! I think this the best musical version of the POTS so far, good job. To me, the style felt like a mixture of Sting and Clannad.

I think the version you recorded is good as it is, but for further "experimenting", I'd suggest:

- The melody should be sung by a female voice. I could try it myself, but somehow I feel that it needs a "feminine energy"
- For a more "pro sound", can you make the piano more clean? How did you record the piano? You definitely should play the part yoursel since you have a very musical touch and phrasing. If you have access to a grand piano, and a good microphone, it could make a big difference.

Thanks for the detailed score, I'll check it out later.

This is excellent, great job osher. I can't help but sing along!

I don't know much about music, but the melody is structured in such a way as to have the effect of "opening up" positive emotions - at least on me, anyway :).

Yes, i tried to record it in a studio with grand piano and good mics, but had just very little extra time after major project finished, and it didn't work out well, so i dumped that recording. This is just my keyboard and just any mic i use for recording demos.

I feel this way, too.
Thank you and enjoy.

Very beautiful version osher, thank you for sharing this. I love the chord progression, melody and the overall atmosphere you've created.

I like very much too ! Thanks for sharing :)

Or could it be an idea to try to make a chorus as in http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,22810.0.html with the voices of many members ? It could give a deep dimension without adding many others instruments...

My 2 cents...

This sounds really epic osher!! Thank you for sharing it! :bacon: :bacon: :bacon: :perfect:

If you're going to add guitar, i can play those parts!

For me, it conveys the serenity of the prayer very well.

Nice work :)
