14 year old psychopath kills parents

The father having guns probably has nothing to do with any suspicions about the son. The father having the guns locked up probably has nothing to do with suspicions about the son - it's the law in many areas and a reasonable precaution when you have small children.

I can second that. It is the law where I live that every head of household have a gun though I have never heard of an attempt to enforce it.

Though the story may sound like it is about a psychopathic child, and the behavior is truly horrible, we don't really have enough information to make that call. We don't know what was going on in that house. It seems pretty clear that the kid was totally dissociated from the event, but as all of you know from reading "Myth of Sanity," there can be lots of reasons for dissociation.

And that is not even to go in the direction of mind programming things, or OPs being programmed by television and video games, which is also a possibility!

According to court documents, Caudle stepped out and shot him in the back of the head as he walked past his hiding spot.

I agree, with Laura about a possible dissociated state/condition. Definitely something bizarre that went on with the boy. If a dissociated state took place or dissociated personality stepped forth, why? From the quote by abstract, "Caudie stepped out and shot him in the back of the head as he walked past his hiding spot." Then he went on to do stuff on his computer. Now, not to be too gruesome, but if you were in forensics, you would definitely note that the boy as well as the areas where the father and mother were shot would be splattered in blood and body materials. So, did the boy not notice or smell this? Did he avoid the area or not notice when he left his room? Did he track blood all over the house? How dissociated was he? What caused the extreme state of dissociation? These are just some of the thoughts I had. Very disturbing and the whole story certainly isn't being discussed news-wise, and may never be. Reminds me of a similar story over a year ago, I think in Texas.... heck, if I can remember the exact details.

"Myth of Sanity" is excellent and I'd like to read deeper/more about states of dissociation.

Edit: to add and clarity

It makes me wonder what would have happened if this had occurred on a Friday or Saturday? Would the kid have jumped in the truck to go get food at McDonalds? Wouldn't he realize there was no one to fix meals for him anymore? Or perhaps he was OK to just scrounge around the house for what was already there.

As the exchanges referenced by Truth Seeker show, this kid had a dramatic personality change in the 8th grade. Whatever brought that about is probably key to what transpired that fateful day of the killings.

Makes me wonder if psychopaths watch cartoon network.

FWIW, hubby and I went to see Amelia at the $2 cinema last weekend (yeah, I know, we're boring). Preshow was a peek at a cartoon show forthcoming on Cartoon Network. It was the most god-awful cartoon you can imagine. I said out loud to my husband, what parent would want their child watching that - to me, it really amounts to child abuse! Please don't ask me to describe the cartoon because to me it was just a jumble of misformed characters being loud and obnoxious. Having grown up with Warner Brother cartoons, bugs bunny, daffy duck, etc., what is today being offered in the medium is the most pathetic crap imaginable! And we wonder what's wrong with our kids???

But for god's sake, don't smoke!

The state allows - no, encourages - the poisoning of our children via their diet, medications, what is put into their minds, but puleeeeeeeeeeze don't anybody light up a smoke!

(Short rant over.)

You're allowed!

I do so love your new avatar/picture, but it will be rather odd on those few occasional posts when you, by necessity, must cut someone down to size! (Sharp words - smiling face) All the more painful, I think.

I've attempted to do a bit more digging into this story but most of the articles found are reporting 3 months after the event. There was this however from around the time of the incident -

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_13739347

in which there was a call for a closed courtroom session because of potentially sensitive information that "may potentially cause alarm or outrage within the local community". So there may be a lot more to this than meets the eye. I probably posted the title thread with the word psychopath in, way too prematurely. Also the article notes that he was a thumb sucker which indicates to me a somewhat withdrawn personality, although I'm no expert on these sort of things. ( But I was also a 'late' thumb sucker until I was about 10 or 11 years old and still have a fairly introverted character).

(edit)

Afterthought - it may be that the potential to 'cause alarm or outrage' bit above, may just only be a reference to his strange behavior between and after the killings.

Thank you, ma'am. The smokers appreciate that, i'm sure. Myself included. :D :cool2:
