What would israel gain by attacking iran?

What other site could they possibly attack if not that nuclear station that went online recently which is supposedly run by the russians? If they attack that, they risk infuriating the russians and who knows what they would do in retaliation not to mention what iran would do aswell.

Maybe this is just more posturing aimed at keepin everybody distracted and on edge.

Just my 2 cents.

We say in French that; there is no smock with out fire. It sure look like Israel is preparing something. But Iran may be a diversion and it real aim may be closer to it border or with in. I try to find the reference where the "C" said that the real aim of the wars in the middle East was to prepare for a war in Palestine.

I think it is a very bad sign, if you ask me. But as always, we will have to wait and see!

Yep! that's all we can do.

I'm not sure exactly what to think of Webster Tarpley other than that he does meticulous research, but I heard an interesting couple of interviews he did recently. He is suggesting that the financial elite tried to manufacture a crisis in the Euro this spring & summer in order to boost the value of the US dollar which has flooded world markets since the 2008 bank insolvency crisis and rampant printing by the Federal Reserve. However, this effort has thus far failed.

He feels one of the primary purposes of starting a war with Iran is to provoke Iran's reaction in shutting down the Straits of Hormuz (or making insurance costs rise drastically for shipping) in order to drive up the price of oil dramatically. The effect of this would be a massive increase in the value of the dollar, since it is the reserve currency needed to purchase oil. This scenario does make a certain amount of sense, especially given so much of the elite's wealth is in dollars.

If nothing else, this is an exercise in thinking broadly. The US and Israel are joined at the hip, especially in matters political and financial. It doesn't matter who gets it started- the benefits will go to those at the top who care nothing of suffering or death of the common folk.

I was just wondering if it is only me that is feeling all this tension about the iran and israel saga. Tension that would only be relieved when israel actually carries out its threats.

I say this because, I've noticed that people are secretly wanting israel to attack iran. Unlike iraq, there isnt that much opposition this time round. There seems to be a new element introduced to the build up to this war, in that pressure is constantly being increased, like in a pressure cooker, for example like israel buying all this fuel, the constant sanctions, all the war talk and threats from politicians, the iranian president being so defiant, and now that nuclear power station that is up and running. Funny thing with that power station is, oh the russians got involved and all of a sudden the americans are sayins that, no need to attack because it's under russian hands. Now all this fuel.... What gives? When will they attack already...? There are alot of games being played, i've lost track of what is actually going on. Maybe someone can help me gain some perspective.

Even if iran was attacked. How would this affect us? Us who arent in the middle east. Surely our lives would just carry on as they always have??

Well, even if it isn't the reason for carrying out an attack, one result would be that shipping oil through the Strait of Hormuz would stop or become very much more expensive. That would suddenly push the price of oil very high, since a major amount of the world's oil come through there. This one impact would make it much more expensive to buy gasoline, affecting people's ability to get to work or carry on their normal routines. It would also drive the price of food much higher as most of it is delivered in trucks. It would probably create food shortages as well.
