The Prestige[/url]: I'm not sure whether this qualifies as sci-fi (as it is alternate-history), but it is really one of the most heart dilating movies I've ever watched and I would recommend it just for that. It deals with two magicians seeking to outdo eachother and Tesla thrown in for the good measure. A good movie, despite the fact that the director went and sold his soul to PTB with "The Dark Knight".

Yes indeed, this movie has a great screenplay and the cast is great as well.
It has many twist and turns that keeps you guessing until the end.
The characters are quite narcissisticaly driven in pursue of their "art" though.

Then there`s also The Illusionist (2006) by Neil Burger with Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel.
It`s quite similiar to The Prestige in that it has a stage magican and is set in the same period in Europe.
It`s a nice fairytaleish movie. Personally I liked Youth Without Youth (2007) by F.F.Coppola more than the
above mentioned films, even though it`s probably a bad movie. See:_http://www.movies.com/youthwithoutyouth/moviereview/109104.html
Visually Youth Without Youth is the best though I quite liked the "silent movie"-flicker effect of The Illusionist.
For a relaxing after work friday night movie you better watch Prestige or Illusionist.

Pretty intense trailer. I watched it without any sound....and it still brought a tear to my eye (seems like it'll be quite emotional).

Worryingly it reminds me of dreams from when I was a kid, and more so the dreams I'm having now.... :/

Question that has gone through my mind is, if its from the same director as ID4 is there a message in there somewhere the same as ID4?

Q: (L) All right, last week, when we shut down for the night we had asked a question about the movie ID4, Independence Day, and we were told to ask
further questions about this, so that gives us a clue that there might be something significant there. Does anybody remember what the question was that I asked?
(T) Is there any significance to the ID4 movie?
A: Sure.
Q: (L) What was the primary intention of the makers of this movie? The primary message that they attempted to convey?
A: Infuse thinking patterns with [planchette swirled a few times here] concept of aliens.
Q: (L) They intended to infuse thinking patterns with concept of aliens... was there any particular slant on aliens, per se, that was seen as desirable in the making
of this movie?
A: Slant?
Q: (L) Slant, in other words, did they wish to present them inaccurately to confuse people, to present them as something to be feared and fought against, or to
make them appear so completely erroneous, so that when actual aliens do appear, that they will not be perceived as negative?
A: Infuse.
Q: (L) Infuse. Just the concept, the concept of aliens in general. OK...
A: Part of a larger project.
Q: (L) And what is this project?
A: Called "Project Awaken."
Q: (L) And who is behind, or in charge of, this project?
A: Many.
Q: (L) Who are the primary group, groups or individuals? I'm sure you're not going to give us individuals, but just the grouping.
A: Thor's Pantheum.
Q: (L) And what is Thor's Pantheum?
A: Sub-select trainees for transfer of enlightenment frequency graduation.
Q: (L) What is enlightenment frequency graduation?
A: Think!
Q: (L) Enlightenment frequency graduation... so, sub-select trainees...
A: Self explanatory.
Q: (L) Well, is this group STS or STO?
A: Both.

While probably v. much an enjoyable flick, I am convinced that this movie is designed by CointelPro as another DISINFO piece. SONY (Sony Pictures) - Standard Oil New York = Rockefeller.
More lies - predictive programming, I suspect.

I saw the trailer today while going to see Harry Potter. I thought it was interesting to see a bunch of comets hitting the earth. It reminds one of the stories of Atlantis...

Well. . , this film is brought to us by the same people who made. . .

Stargate
Godzilla
Independence Day
And "The Day After Tomorrow"

I found all of these to be monumentally dumb films which nonetheless were based on real concerns and interesting ideas. (Well, I didn't bother with Godzilla, so I don't really know about that one.) --They also resonated well with the public who I think are not-so-subconsciously intrigued by these ideas which, after all, stem from key issues on our planet. Fiction is one of the only 'safe' places where people are allowed to explore important concepts without being ridiculed for it.

Yeah, It's likely that it will be filled with disinfo on one level or another, but then again, having watched the trailer, ya gotta love seeing a US Aircraft carrier and all its planes being bowled over by a tidal wave! :halo:

Two remarks caught my attention:

By Michael:
I think the effects alone will make the movie worth seeing.

I wondered what the 'special effect' of special effects is on the psyche of the watcher. From my own observations I can see that when I look at special effects that for sure I am not able not to identify with what happening on the screen. I am totally absorbed by the effects and with what is happening on the screen, much more then for instance during a slow scene, a dialogue, or silent view of nature. In these occsions I can observe myself, look at myself and take a mental picture of who I am, how I am, looking at the movie. I tried to do it during a spectaculair chase scene or a fight scene, but loose almost instantly myself in what is projected. Is it the speed of the images, the spectacularity, or is it a identification with the emotions that are connected with these kind of effects: eg like feeling a hero, or feeling a desaster tourist? Looking at the evoluation of movies, there is an increase focus on special effects. Is the reason that the identification is increased?

I noticed that the aircraft carrier in the trailer is the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, and it rolls over and destroys the White House. :P

I like the symbolism of that!

Thor's Pantheum !!!!!!!Thor's Pantheum !!!!!!!Thor's Pantheum !!!!!!!

:scared: We have to remember that this is part of the program, and at the end of the program they will come, that's why a lot of books and movies are coming out like in the session of the hypnosis when the lady says that people will be there to make movies and books, programming people

Scared We have to remember that this is part of the program

Something like 'Thor's Pantheum' isn't something we are able to confirm. At this moment we can only keeping it in mind, that's all. The only thing we can really do is trying to notice the 'mind programming' into what they are trying to steer us and what there motivation with that may be.

and at the end of the program they will come

Can you clarify?
