27 May 2022, an unforgettable day.

Ina

The Living Force
It is the day when Nora Darcy, my second granddaughter was born, and I was bitten by a monkey, either Rhesus or Vervet, not quite sure the species.
Since then, after the tetanus vaccine which was actually a cocktail of anti tetanus diphtheria and four strands of polio, I have been on antibiotics, and today is the first day when only one arm hurts, the one with the Vax.
Haven't checked the horoscope yet, I'm still in shock.

I hope you're going to be ok, how and where this happened?

Oh my, so sorry about this Ina as that is a serious thing to have happened.

Keep peeps informed, and hope you come around quickly.

Congratulations on second granddaughter!
Second this, Congrats on your new granddaughter!

And yikes, bitten by a monkey... go figure, interesting timing tough, hope you feel better soon.

Hopefully it simply turns into a funny story to share with your granddaughter one day... "the day you were born..." :)

The monkey is a pet of a lady that stables her horses at the same place we stable Malachite. She likes to come with the monkey and she leaves it roam free. I was bringing a new flymask and a new paddock blanket to replace the flysheet and mask ripped by one of her horses, a stallion that seemingly can only paddock next to Malachite, otherwise runs bonkers all day.
So, with my both arms occupied I approached the place where the stable manager was, and I see a 5 little dogs barking and charging for me. I calmed the dogs while moving along and reached the covered patio, and realized the lady with the monkey was also there. Greeted, and suddenly I saw the little nonsense climbing down the woman's shoulder, jumping on a table than, jumping on my right arm, and sticking its little canines in my right arm, puncturing and bruising the skin through the sweater sleeve.
All I could say was WTH! Then I looked at the lady and asked her. And what am I supposed to do now? Get Rabies shots and a tetanus?
Both the lady and the stable manager downplayed what happened. Truth is I was quite upset because I was thinking that our boy Malachite was being bullied, judging of the state of his new tack being destroyed and the bite marks on his face.
Anyway, the rest is history.
I am OK now but as @Alejo said, interesting timing.

Anyway, whether this monkey thinks is a dog or not, I learned that the little grey monkies are quite dangerous.

Congratulations on the birth of your new grand daughter.

Monkey's are mischievous by nature and are easily feel threatened. May be it felt threatened by color or shape of the items ?

We used to have a visit of bands of monkey's in grand mothers' town who come in the morning, roam around , steal whatever they can ( Mostly food items) , growl to bite when confronted. Having no free hand is a invitation.

I had a small bag of carrots in my right hand. I think the monkey was going for that. Maybe he likes the carrots.

Many thanks for the congratulations and wishes for Nora Darcy! She is like a little band-aid. Her mom had to do a C-section because she was face up or 'swimming on her back' like we were jokingly saying. All is well and at almost a week old she is making cute sounds while trying to keep her eyes open. Maybe it is the little pockets of gas she's reacting to but she is beyond cute. Spit, Spit, Spit, to protect from the 'evil eye' (orthodox superstition).

Thank you so much @Arwenn ! Both are doing well Thanks God for that! I was so worried as the mum was diagnosed with covid 2 weeks ago (even if vaxxed twice last vax, being done during pregnancy ) and had also high blood pressure.
As for the grandmama, it is still difficult to wrap my had around that.
Like Shirley MacLaine was saying in a recent interview, it is difficult to conceive and accept ageing. I am struggling a lot with that.

Welcome to the world Nora Darcy, and congratulations!

Sorry to hear about the monkey bite and hope it heals without issue. It would be kind of cool if a monkey bite counted as a natural monkey pox vaccine!
Thank you on her behalf!

Hahaha! Monkey power! Unfortunately it does not. Moreover these little monkeys are carriers of the so called monkey B virus, which can be quite nasty!
