2D/True Friends

Just catching up here buz/p about your recent loss of Bently; very sorry, and now you have your new friend in Andie, and how you came to her after the discussion on waiting or not.

Our dogs have always been a number of years apart generally, and each time one has passed on, the grief for the one remaining is always intense, let alone for us. When it comes to waiting or not, it tended to be the latter for the reasons discussed for the reaming dog. I've always found it interesting, how like your description of coming by Andie, how they find us or we find them - this coming together. It sounds like Andie and you both were meant to find each other, so congratulations. :)

Of course we all know what this means. Because of our unexpected adoption there is another dog out there destined to join the suddenly growing family. Next time it will be the fierce guard dog. I promise.

LOL, well you know you need a little dog to wake everyone else in the pack up ;)

I'm so glad you rescued the little girl! :hug2:

I am very glad, me too! Andie is very lucky. Her destiny was to be with you, how amazing are the destinies of dogs. Thanks to share your story.

Hey buz/p,

I just caught up to this thread and wanted to express my condolences for the loss of your friend, Bentley. I myself lost my best friend Luna (kitty) on Jan.14th, so I know what that 'void' feels like all too well.

When the pain was very fresh, I didn't think I ever wanted to feel that loss again, so I told myself I wasn't going to get a new companion. But after the initial pain subsided, I realized that Luna wouldn't want me to be alone, so I'm planning on getting a new companion as soon as I'm able.

My partner and I are even considering getting our first puppy, and we both have our own 'visions' of what our 'ideal' dog should be like. We both know we want the 'guard dog', I want a husky and he wants a shelty, but I'm pretty sure when we start actually looking for our new dog something is going to happen like with you and your partner. Some little doggy/kitty is going to need us and at that point I probably won't care what kind of dog/kitty it is, I'll just want to take care of it as long as I'm able. Cause as what happened to you is the prefect example, nothing in life is what you expect.

I'm very glad for you both and Andie to have found each other. :hug2:

I used to have a Siberian Husky as a companion. I just want to warn you that they are not guard dogs. They love everybody. Except other dogs sometimes. Also, and it seems to be true to the breed, they cannot go outside of a yard without a leash as they just head off to the hills.

A Malamute Husky seems to be more of a guard dog type, although I've never had one as a companion. That's if you are bound to have a Husky. Just beware of the "hair" factor. :)

Thanks Nienna, That's really good to know. I do have my heart set on a husky, but we'll see what happens. ;) Sorry for going :offtopic:
