a critter in the wall

I wanted to ask for a feedback on one recent happening.

About a week ago, my husband went to sleep in a living room because the bedroom was too stuffy. At night, he was awaken by some animal scratching on a roof. It sounded as if it was on top of the chimney, and then, it fell down. Our chimney is not brick all the way up, instead, it's a steel chute that doesn't perfectly connect with a roof chimney structure. Somehow, the critter must have fallen outside of the chute and got stuck inside the wall (between the main frame and plaster wall).

For a while it was scratching and biting there, and then the sounds stopped. My husband thought he must have gotten out. After a few days though, we had tons of flies in the house. And then it started smelling; we first thought it was a gas leak, but the gas company checked things out and said everything is clean, and that's when we put two and two together.

So we have a poor dead squirrel or chipmunk stuck in a wall in our house, and it stinks and sends in flies, and we would have never known what it is if we didn't hear it back then -- and there is nothing we can do to take him out other than breaking a wall, probably in a few places until we figure out where exactly it is located.

I think if we just let it be, the smell will eventually go away, so it's not a big problem. What I wondering about is, if it is a sign for something, what could it be, what could it represent. I have never been one to decipher daily happenings and look for a special meaning in them (mostly because I didn't think I will be able to do it accurately anyway). Bu in light of the recent session I wonder if I would start paying attention to things like that.

Hi Hildegarda!

First thing that comes to mind: Not every door that opens leads to an exit, some lead to trap or stinky situation. Careful which doors you open, may be ?

Hello Hildegarda

Same thing happened at our place last week. I am too 'conditioned' to even think it could have a meaning to it. (gotta work on that)

I have to agree with agni that it could have meaning as to which door you may open or close. (same for me)

There is a natural odor controller called 'zeolite' which works very well to control odors in an enclosed space. A quick search will give you most of the information that you may need. If you can't physically get the granular zeolite on the odor source you can fill an old pair of knee high or panty hose and actually hang it up near the odor source. Works very well for most odors and is an odorless organic form of control.

Hi Hildegarda,

I know this wasn't a dream, but maybe some dream symbology might apply anyway. I have read that seeing a squirrel/ chipmunk in your dream refers to hoarding or holding on to something that needs to be let go. Now this critter has lodged himself deep in the foundation of your home - maybe refers to the foundation of your being. And walls, within the home, refers to obstacles. So putting this together, perhaps means a need to let go of some stuff that is obstructing your growth. This could well relate to progressing in the breathing program, as the obstacles to growth are coming up to be noticed.

fwiw, and as always, could be waaaaaay off!

thank you all, these are thoughts I had in mind, too. Coffee grinds are dong their jobs on a physical plane, and I have some work to do on a mental plane, it seems!

Hi Hildegarda, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar as Freud would say.
I am too very often tempted to look for the meaning in such events. Once a night owl landed on the tree in front of my window , sat there and we looked at each other for a while. This was very auspicious because I live in most densely populated corner of Europe with practically non existing wildlife. I was sure it might be an omen for something.
Few years after I cant say it was.
The thing is - ancients read messages from events like this, animals they would encounter, looks of their internal organs I just don't think it brought them a lot of good. FWIW

On second thought... not only it could be "cigar is just a cigar", as Corto Maltese mentions, but who is the sender of the message ? Universe ? Higher self ? Sources of STS / STO nature ? If later, would STO send a message by death of a critter ? Not sure :)
