That is amazing!

That dog has just got to be a candidate for 3d existence in the next cycle. :wow:

I second any other animal nominated for 3d existence. My concern about this video is how the dog was "trained" and what is the punishment if s/he doesn't perform.

Hi History, I don't think it works like that. I might be wrong, but Animals don't get nominated for 3d existence. It's like they go where you fit. Who do you think does this nominating you mention?

How do you know there was any punishment. What about people who reward their dog instead. The dog seems happy enough doing it, as opposed to some stuff I've seen with performing bears.

I agree. I think he seems very happy. I look at him, I see his smile and his tail is moving happily. It is normal to feel concerned when you see that type of shows, specially when you see animals. I don't like, for example, circus. But we know that some circus treat very badly their animals, specially elephants. But this dog it seems to me that he likes to dance. Some dogs like dancing, you know. And be admired and cajoled. When a dog is unhappy you can feel it, by his ears or his body language.

Hi Peam,

I don't know how it works. I'm still working out my understanding of humans and other beings that look like humans. As I've stated some in some other threads, I'm just not comfortable or convinced that other animals have no soul but I was being facetious about "nomination".

I don't know if there was any punishment in this case, except that after more than twenty-five years working on behalf of other animals, I know that more often than not in most performing animal show, at least initially, there is punishment in training and often the threat of punishment remains even after training.

And still for me, the bottom line is, these behaviors are not natural. No bear or elephant wants to stand on its head for our amusement. That I will go on the record and state I believe to be true. But I will also state that I am experiencing a very swift learning curve presently and all I thought I knew is being questioned turned on its head, so.......

Hi Loretta,

All circuses treat their animals very badly. Trucking wild animals around from place to place is bad treatment. Forcing them to live in tiny cages, never allowing them to put their feet on the earth, is bad treatment. Not allowing them to live in their natural family systems or exhibit any of their natural behaviors is bad treatment. Many circuses withhold food and/or water as reward/punishment. Forcing them to perform tricks against their nature is bad treatment. And even the most well funded of circuses, for example, Ringling Brothers in the USA, have been cited repeatedly for a multitude of infractions including, not providing adequate veterinary care and for using whips, chains, ropes, bullhooks, electrical shocking devices, baseball bats, ax handles, and metal pipes to get their animals to perform tricks that are so far out of the realm of their instinctive behaviors these implements of torture are the only ways they have to force compliance. The list of mistreatments/infractions is long, often bloody and often deadly.

I agree that dogs are different than wild animals and I don't know if this dog was mistreated. Standing on two legs for long periods of time is probably challenging for a dog but I am reminded of a two-legged dog that does just that to get around, so maybe in this case it is similar and the dog really doesn't mind.

Thanks for sharing this video, Loreta. I saw it a few years ago, but it is great to see it again :)

This dance is called merengue, salsa is quite different, different rhythm and steps.

Loretta,

I hope I didn't come across as questioning your good intentions for posting the video. I only intended to add in that often what comes across as perfectly innocent regarding animals isn't and for a site that is all about objectivity, I hope that objectivity when concerning our animal friends is welcome here too, and from what I've read in other threads, I know it is. :D

Have a lovely day everyone.
