Forty Years Old
You know I’m forty years old today
Got teenager kids and a bunch of bills to pay
I’m forty years old today
Still got most of my hair but now some of them are gray
My waist is getting wider, my eyes see shorter sighter, my brain ain’t getting’ brighter but I think I’m alright
I’m taking medication for all my aggravation I don’t see no correlation to the style of my life
‘Cause I got all the time I want, all the time I need, all the time in the world, to straighten me out, but for now I feel
That there ain’t no need for changing, no mental rearranging, I’m just forty years old today
You know the world’s turning ninety today
The hair on her head is just withering away
The world’s turning ninety today
Her motherly nature is fading every day
Her bones feel like braking, her knees have started shaking, her bowels are all a-quaking and she’s starting to slow
If we’d have paid attention to more than one dimension she’d have had a new direction fifty years ago
We’ve got all the time we want, all the time we need, all the time in the world, to learn how to love and set aside our greed
Nobody gets excited ‘cause people try to hide it but the world’s turning ninety today
Yeah I got all the time I want, I got all the time in the world, I got all the time that I need, yeah I got all the time in the world
I’m only forty years old today, only forty years old today
And I got all the time that I want, I got all the time in the world
I think I’ll pull myself together if I want to feel some weather that’s better than the world has today.
