Forty Years Old

You know I’m forty years old today
Got teenager kids and a bunch of bills to pay
I’m forty years old today
Still got most of my hair but now some of them are gray
My waist is getting wider, my eyes see shorter sighter, my brain ain’t getting’ brighter but I think I’m alright
I’m taking medication for all my aggravation I don’t see no correlation to the style of my life
‘Cause I got all the time I want, all the time I need, all the time in the world, to straighten me out, but for now I feel
That there ain’t no need for changing, no mental rearranging, I’m just forty years old today

You know the world’s turning ninety today
The hair on her head is just withering away
The world’s turning ninety today
Her motherly nature is fading every day
Her bones feel like braking, her knees have started shaking, her bowels are all a-quaking and she’s starting to slow
If we’d have paid attention to more than one dimension she’d have had a new direction fifty years ago
We’ve got all the time we want, all the time we need, all the time in the world, to learn how to love and set aside our greed
Nobody gets excited ‘cause people try to hide it but the world’s turning ninety today

Yeah I got all the time I want, I got all the time in the world, I got all the time that I need, yeah I got all the time in the world
I’m only forty years old today, only forty years old today
And I got all the time that I want, I got all the time in the world

I think I’ll pull myself together if I want to feel some weather that’s better than the world has today.

Very nice!

It's got a nice funky feel to it. :)

Thanks for the encouragement. "Funky" and "makes me want to dance" - two comments I could never get tired of hearing! :)

Oh that was so fun!

I loved the arrangement, especially the guitar solo. The tone of the vocals fit so well - the message of the lyrics made me smile =)

I really enjoyed the music! Good stuff, and it could really be marketable as a 'hit' imo.

But do we though?

That's the spirit. :)

This is really well done, sounds totally professional and the vocals are perfect. Good job!

Personally I understood the 'time' reference to be a sort of 'play' on the 'idea' of time, or rather what we understand time to be. Besides, if there is limited 'time' left on this world (as we know it) we probably have 'all that is left' ;)

That was how I perceived it anyway =)

Yeah, that was pretty much it.

Anything that this guy should consider changing about his lifestyle he will keep putting off, telling himself he's got all the time in the world - and he's right. But if we look at the state of the world today we can see that "all the time in the world" might not be very much time, at all.

I also tried to make the point that the reason the world is in such a bad way is because humans have dealt with its health problems in exactly the same way this guy deals with his - ignoring them, hiding them, downplaying their importance.

Ah, I get it now! Thanks for clarifying.
