A poem I found

I was on a short vacation with my daughter lately in a Dutch province called Zeeland, and we had a wonderful time. One of the trips we made to discover the area was visiting an old fort (Fort Rammekens) on the seaside. Next to just being a great place to stroll around there was an exhibition about the history of the area and the numerous floods they encountered in the past. There was also an art exhibition somewhat related to the subject and I encountered a beautiful poem. I'm not usually into poetry but this one I really liked. It's in Dutch, but I translated it to English below.

wake up, man!
unswim the dream of unconcern
awake from carefree sleep of time
observe, observe!
stay informed of danger
never release what was once so deeply sealed into our soul:
keep an eye on high waves
forget the time when we forgot
stay upright, stay afloat
and carried by an endless sea of questions:
why and who and where?

From: Over vloed (About flood), Jorien Brugmans

I hope you like it too.

I do like it, Mechanic. It is a poem that should be put in public places where a lot of other people can see it and, hopefully, contemplate it. Or, dare I say, Wake Up! :)
