A problem with my computer

I don't know if it is the good section to ask for help about what happened at my computer. This morning when I open my computer I see that ALL my markers have disappeared. All of them. So I am unable to enter my edition mode at Sott.net. I asked Gandalf for help but if you can tell me what to do? I forget (I am an imbecile after that) the password and really I am so nervous that I don't know, when in the Sott page what to do. Can you help me? And also the password for Yahoo.

Now, what do you think happened? Do you think that an hacker entered my computer and erased all my markers? Is it this an attack that I received? Hopefully I have the passwords for this forum, facebook and my gmail account. but that's all.

I am so shocked that I don't know if I expressed correctly what is my problem.

Thanks to listen and thanks for your help! We live in a world of strange things that happens but never I had this sort of problem. I did not touch anything yesterday before closing my computer, and this morning all my markers are not there anymore.

what do you mean by markers? Bookmarks in your web browser or icons? Could you upload some screenshots?

Did you meant bookmarks when you said markers?

If you lost the login sessions to some websites, it could be a corrupt cache or somebody/some application erase the cache.

If you forgot the password for sott.net, you can always go to this link to reset your password:

When I say markers is all the links to my pages, forum, facebook, everything. When I start my computer this morning all was not there anymore. all my applications are not there anymore. My sites, the links. So it is as if I just install chrome now. I will try again to enter Yahoo but for now they say that they don't reconise my email address.

I think maybe someone enter my computer during the night and erased all my caché. But how come? Or an application, as you said.

Hi loreta, try to calm down a bit and take a short break. I think things could be restored somehow :).

I have some questions:

What operating system are you on?
Did you install anything yesterday?
Are you logged in or got logged out in google chrome?
Could it be that your bookmark bar is hidden?

I will try first to make a screen shot.

Yesterday or the day before I installed some extentions for chrome, like when I receive an email I hear a little sound. Some others, a game of puzzle. That's all. My husband have another computer but him nothing happened in his computer.

Yesterday what I saw as different from the other days was when I wanted to keep some pictures for my articles that I edit for Sott, it was different.

Are you logged in or got logged out in google chrome?

How don't understand this question. When I start my computer it never ask me anything. directly it goes to chrome.

Could it be that your bookmark bar is hidden?

I don't think so. When I go to the section of configuration of chrome all my extensions are not there anymore. the historical is there, yes. but the extensions no. As another member said, is as someone came and erased all my cache. Maybe the CIA? :)

if you click on the icon with 3 lines in the top right conner (just right to the "K" icon) you will find a menu entry "Bookmarks". If they were not erased, you will be able to see them. Could you check it?

Another idea, could you click on Person1 in the top right of your browser? It is right to the "Nueva pestana" in your screenshot and if you are not already logged it, could you log in to your browser there (it is your google name and password)? If you are logged out it may take a short while until your browser is synched again, at least I hope so.

Another idea, could you click on Person1 in the top right of your browser? I try to enter in person1 but it says that this account is already used by another person. this "person1" what is it? It appeared yesterday when looking for pictures for my articles. The only way to keep the pictures was entering "person1". Maybe all the problem is due to this?

When I go to my tools in Chorme there is this "person1" as you can see under lydia (with the little squirrel). can I erase this "person1" without problem?

Ok, I did something and everything came to normality. No CIA.

I push this section "Person1" and it asked me "change person". So I change to Lydia, with the little squirel. and everything came like normality, with all my markers, etc. Now... the problem was this person1. So now I will close my computer and start again as nothing to see what happens.
