The other day I also read an interview with someone who works at Mcdonalds, you would never eat there again if you knew how your food and drinks are treated.
If you knew what they do to your food at most fast food and even expensive restaurants you would never eat there again. I have worked at and quit several of these jobs because I refused to change dates on products and many other disgusting things that are done every day.

I second that, I worked also in McD and BKing after eating it everyday I become sick with unknown disease and had to go to hospital for three months.
My entire Esophagus was covered up with red spots and probably whole digestive organs were collapsed. What ever I eat I become vomiting. So I needed to become my food through catheter directly in to the blood. My mother said that I was going to dye. After becoming cortisone 3 weeks I become better, but I lost 12 kilograms of my muscles mas. I had to learn walk again, phuu... I wish people understand how evil this fast food is.

Chain restaurants are big no nos and we have been shopping less and less in the supermarket. We buy meats and veggies from local farmers.

After years of mostly fish, veggies, and carbs I've switched. I was having a hard time tolerating beef and pork (no matter how good beacon tasted). I learned through several allergy tests recently that I am severely allergic to pork and moderately allergic to beef. We did the test twice to be sure. A recent article on SOTT got me wondering If I was bitten by one of those meat allergy causing ticks at some point.

All isn't lost, though. Around here I can get lots of lamb and goat and turkey for me and beef and pork for hubby with fat included from local farmers. We often get it ground but sometimes cubed for meat stews. Farmer's markets and community supported agriculture is a big thing here. We've had long conversations with the people who raise and butcher the animals and grow the food. Hubby even visited one of the farms to see how they do stuff. You pay a yearly fee and can go pick the produce yourself when you pick up your meat or they deliver it to the weekly farmer's market in your area where you pick it up. It's so refreshing to know where your food comes from and how it is produced.
