I'm going against the grain on this one, in leaning towards fake.
Here are the issues I have:
Something seems really off with the audio of the original video. Having spent time in the deep snow of Wyoming snowmobile culture, I'm pretty familiar with how voices sound in this environment.
I listened to the video in 720p with headphones on, and I think the voice was added on.
Look at the gear his sister is wearing - helmet, fog mask over mouth, gloves - you would be freezing to death without this stuff. His hands are bare, and his voice is crystal clear - is he really not wearing a helmet, fog mask, or gloves after having been out filming for hours? Because if he was (and you'd have to be) his voice would not sound like that. There is no distortion at all, and no signs of the wind/motor sounds muffling the voice - it is as if the voice was simply layered on top of the original audio. The original audio is creatively muffled to sound like it is the mic of the camera trying to focus on the speaker's voice - but I don't think that is what it is in this case.
Consider also, the possibility that his hand motions are waving forwards, telling his sister to continue driving. That's what it looks like to me, and makes a little more sense.
The video uploader has experimented with other (albeit MUCH lower quality) video special effects in his other uploads. So it is confirmed he works with CGI, and likely associates with others who do as well, that may have greater ability.
In the interview, he says the reason we are only shown <20 seconds of footage is that he was filming all day and ran out of tape. Call me crazy, but filming hours of being towed through the snow by your sister doesn't seem like the most interesting family footage.
If he were to post, say, the 5 minutes of footage leading up to this very short clip - then we would really have something to compare it to, and analyze. But instead we are left once again with a very convenient 19 second piece of footage that is almost impossible to really analyze for authenticity...
