A Disturbance in the Force
Hello guys. I don't know anything about forums I'm new here. I don't speak a good english I created this account because I need some help. Since I was a child I used to see some weird lights with differant colors everywhere even at night or in the dark even when I close my eyes,it was normal for me I though everyone can see them ! But once I asked my mother she said that she couldn't see anything ! I asked all my friend no one could see them ! I though something was wrong with my eyes ibut the doctors told me that my eyes were alright.. while I was searching in the internet I found this forum someone was talking about this subject so I decided to create an account and ask for some help. Am I crazy guys?? Does anyone know what are those lights/colors?? I also would like to add that when I conscentred I can see a flame/fire .. yu may think I'm crazy I really don't know what's that this used to happend to me since I was a baby I always lived with these things it seemed normal for me and so real that I didn't really payed any attention to it.. these lights are almost every where some times when I concentred I see them clairly and I can see many other things...... I don't know if that will help but I never sleep well I sleep but my dreams seem like another place where I'm tottaly aware. It doesn't seem like a dream .. when. I dream I know that I'm dreaming and I contol the dream I can do anything in the dream .. I know now if that is related.. please guys help me I'm just loosing my mind before it was normal but recently I found out that not everyone is like that.. I'm sorry my english is really bad. English is my fifth language sorry.

Hi lost girl,

Well for someone who speaks 5 languages, I'd say you're doing remarkably well! Don't worry, your English is fine. :) One of the things I've found helpful with 'high strangeness' episodes is diet. Although it may not seem to be related, what we eat can definitely be a factor in how we perceive the wolrd around us. If you haven't had a chance to already, perhaps you'd be interested in having a look at the Life Without Bread thread.

Many of us here have found such improvements by just cutting out gluten, dairy and sugar. Hope that helps a bit and hang in there! Others may also have more to add.

Thank you truth seeker. :)
But you know I usually eat with family friends... How come they are not in the same situation? And I never had any eating disorders I'm very healthy and care a lot my body. But those lights and colors I ve always see them, since my early childhood.. when I look at someone I don't only see his or her body around the body there is like another body then another one... With differant colors.. I usually don't pay attention when I don't pay attention it seems tottaly normal to me but when I keep looking the colors get more clair .. and when in the dark I see some weird lights just like that in the air I dnt know what's that I always though. Its normal.. sometimes it scare me I try to ignore and don't pay attention but even when I close my eyes they still there ! I try to sleep but even sleeping scares me sometimes, my dreams are weird they are so real ! I don't know what's happening to me .. it can be just my imagination but how come I was born like this ...

hello lost girl, and welcome.

Did you consider the possibility of suffering from a form of Migraine? Many people have visual disturbances in those occurrences. In any case, the Life Without Bread is a good start as suggested by truth seeker as many problems are provoked and/or aggravated by a maladaptive diet. Some people are more sensitive to diet than others, and the symptoms can vary widely from one individual to another.

On the other hand, being able to control some dreams is very common and many people are able to do that.

You may take a look at the definition of "lucid dreaming" here: _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream :)

If you have been checked out by a doctor and he says your systems are okay, then maybe you need to check with a neurologist next. If he gives you a clean bill of health, then you just have to accept that you are one of those people with brains that do things that not everyone's brain does and learn to live with it.

I knew an old lady once who said she could see colors all the time PLUS spirits of the dead all around. Sometimes they talked to her. She just learned to think of it as a TV that was always running in the background that she could pay attention to or not as she chose.

But I still think lucid dreams are bad for me anyways.. the reality seems like a dream and the dream like reality.. I need a break I need to forget eveything sometimes.. its just too much for me and I can't handle it..

Also have you try to practice meditation before? if that thing that you have or see, is nothing clinical then you could do breathing exercises, maybe that will help you control and even understand a little about what is happening to you, we have a breathing program created by Laura which is very good and powerful called Eiriu Eolas you can check it out here: http://eiriu-eolas.org/

Where is the concept that what you experience is 'bad' coming from? Why do you think any of these experiences are 'bad'?

Before I changed my diet, my dreams were just as you've described yours to be. I've also had dreams that were more real than waking life, in which touching the walls, and picking things up almost fooled me into thinking I was awake.

Since I've cut out dairy, grains, legumes, and restricted eating to bone broth, and fatty meat, this was reduced. I still have dreams that are not considered 'normal', the difference is it no longer is upsetting because I understand it better. In my case, my brain works differently. (I do have a neurological disease. My brain functioned different long before I had it.)

Can I ask how old you are? When in my twenties and early thirties, that was the period of time that my dreams were the hardest to live with. It was also the time when my diet was horrible: lots of breads, pizza, inflammatory foods of all kinds. If your brain functions differently, cleaning up your diet may help you, and it can make living much more bearable. :flowers:

Flashing lights in the eyes are common. So are seeing black dots, or things that appear to be like bits of fiber, or 'lint'. Signs of a problem with the eye would be having a glare, like a flashbulb glare, that does not go away, black spots that appear in the center of your field of vision etc. (Talked to a optometrist about this a few months ago, when getting a new pair of glasses.)

My parents told me, when I told them how I tended to see things etc, that it was the same as being double jointed, or good at building things. What I did with that was up to me, and the responsible thing was to learn as much as I could on what it was, how it functioned, and what to do with it that was constructive. In my parents point of view, how I see the world was a talent to be made into a skill. It helped me find ways to cope: making dream journals, studying psychology, exploring art as a means of coming to acceptance of the things I was seeing. These are all exercises to look into.

If there is nothing neurologically wrong, learning all you can on how the brain works, checking out the different threads here in Cognitive science, etc, can be helpful for you. Reducing drinks that contain caffeine, and avoiding processed foods will also help with the over-loaded emotions, at least, that worked in my case. :flowers:

Which makes one wonder if some of the brain differences you experienced were "signs" of an impending neurological disease? That might be the case with lost girl and thus make it even more important for her to see a qualified doctor.

It also might be that had you, Gimpy, been aware of diet issues long ago, you could have prevented the onset of the disease. Of course, hindsight is 20/20!

 ;)

I was diagnosed with multiple food allergies as a toddler. (Everything I currently no longer eat, in essence.) The only serious, life threatening one was to tree nuts. (Which is still true.)

My mother was convinced I would starve to death on the one hand, and didn't want to bother with dealing with a child that did not understand why she could not eat the things her sister ate on the other. ;D

To me it sounds as though your retina may be detaching. The glare, the black spots, the "lint" can be signs of a detaching retina. Especially alarming to me are the "floaters" which look like bits of lint or black dots. If the retina does detach, there is a specific window during which it can be reattached without losing vision. If it detaches completely, there is no vision until it is lasered back into place.

Are you very nearsighted? The shape of the eye of very nearsighted people is different from those of people who have normal or not very nearsighted vision.

If you have access to a retina specialist, I suggest making an appointment with a retina specialist ASAP especially if the floaters and flashing lights intensify. Optomotrists may not have the training and skill not to mention the equipment to reattach a detached retina.
