Suggesting that volcanic eruptions are electrical phenomena...

But is this phenomena new, or allways by volcanic eruption on going?
I don't remember to seeinng pictures like this before. Like one or two years ago.
First time with the islandic volcano last year. With lightning in various colors.

The strange thing, as SOTT stated is that the "eruptions" have not been through the same volcano (Puyehue Volcano), but specifically in a couple of points through the "Caulle Cordon".

Pictures of day are also very impressive... look like a big mushroom cloud:

There was also a new moon on June 1. Don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Amazing pictures!. I was wondering about the streaks of white lines on the left side ?. looking like some thing falling into plumes . charged particles in the atmosphere ?.
Also streak of black column as if some thing moving through , probably infront of the plumes
OR the picture is edited ?.
If picture is taken from the moving plane, streaks should be common across. Right ?.

with all that lightning they look live living monsters...maybe this is what the Norse mythology means by fire giants ,who incidentally are said to return to join the fray for Ragnarok

Volcanic eruptions

Hilda Ellis Davidson theorizes that the events in Völuspá occurring after the death of the gods (the sun turning black, steam rising, flames touching the heavens, etc.) may be inspired by the volcanic eruptions on Iceland. Records of eruptions on Iceland bear strong similarities to the sequence of events described in Völuspá, especially the eruption at Laki that occurred in 1783.[52] Bertha Phillpotts theorizes that the figure of Surtr was inspired by Icelandic eruptions, and that he was a volcano demon.[53] Surtr's name occurs in some Icelandic place names, among them the lava tube caves Surtshellir, a number of dark caverns in the volcanic central region of Iceland.

I took that to indicate that the shutter was left open for quite a while, those streaks are the stars' movement in the sky.

Maybe related (and maybe not), in the north of Chile, the next day it rained during the night the equivalent of a year of precipitation. Today in the south (of Chile) someone took this video _http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gMfkhaplmEg but i don't know yet if it is common there or not.
