An efficient way to spot online sales (supplements, etc.)?

Does anyone know any tricks to spot sales aside from signing up for e-mail alerts from stores you often use? The Petco website (where I sometimes buy pet items) has a nifty feature where you create a "shopping list" so that you specifically get the emails about sales on the items you are interested in. Are there any other handy tools that you use or know about?

Part of what got me started writing this post is there's currently a buy-one-get-one-free sale at Swanson Vitamins that just lasts for today. The items that caught my attention were:

_http://www.swansonvitamins.com/bogo
Triple Strength Melatonin (10 mg 30 caps, 2 for $5.39)
Resveratrol 100 (100 mg 30 Caps, 2 for $9.49) [Not a priority for me but I noticed it.]
Dr. Stephen Langer's Ultimate 16 Strain Probiotic with FOS (60 Veg Caps , 2 for $4.49)
Zinc Citrate (50 mg 60 Caps, 2 for $2.99)
GABA (500 mg 100 Caps, 2 for $6.99)

A comment on that probiotic: unfortunately I don't know which strains are useful in the ketogenic/paleo diet yet, so I can't comment on that, but the supplement also contains 12.5 mg of "ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Complex" which seems handy. The downside is that it contains alfalfa. (maybe in connection with the trace minerals). This page claims the alfalfa is non-GMO, but of course you never know: _

Anyway, I was thinking about starting a thread where forum members could share the various sales they find on things we use here. Maybe this thread could be used for that purpose if people want to chip in and report sales.

For what it's worth.

One thing that comes to mind is price comparison and trend sites. Like pricewatch.com. There was another one for electronics that showed nice graphs and calculated if it was good to buy or wait. I can't remember the site name, but it made sense and was one word, maybe 7 letters.

There's gotta be some app or site that will show trends or alert for deals.

In addition to the bogo (buy-one-get-one-free) page and their emails for all special deals at swanson's, you can also check out their deal of the day page.

Good tips. I can get sort of OCD about comparing prices by hand (I like to compare according to price per gram of the actual substance, such as ascorbic acid), so anything that will put together some of the data for me is something I should use.

That sounds really nifty. I've noticed that Amazon prices change all the time, sometimes offering pretty good deals. I once filled a shopping cart there, and when I returned to it a few days later the price changes had taken $10-15 off the price. Since Amazon is so big, I would think someone would have made something to graph item prices over time.

Aha, after that last sentence I had the nagging feeling I'd better do a search, and found http://camelcamelcamel.com. It's pretty impressive. Check out all the data for a 1lb tub of NOW Foods ascorbic acid (Vit C seems to have become my default for tonight it seems): http://camelcamelcamel.com/Foods-Vitamin-Crystals-Ascorbic-Pound/product/B0013OUMVO?context=browse

You can set a price at which it will notify you, and it gives a graph of the price over time, plus the maximum, minimum, and average prices for the period on record.

There's also http://thetracktor.com/, which appears simpler, but the few graphs I've looked at on there hardly had any data points on them (I even checked for the exact same ascorbic acid product).
