An odd rash of stabbings

This is really alarming:

8-Year-Old Girl Stabbed by Woman in Second Random Stabbing of Children in Osaka This Week

A 32-year-old unemployed woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of stabbing an 8-year-old girl in the chest, head and other parts of her body on the street in Osaka, police said.

Setsuka Tamaki from Osaka's Sumiyoshi Ward was arrested for attempted murder and admitted she stabbed the girl, who she said she had not met before.

The elementary school second-grader was stabbed around five times but was able to talk, the police said.

Tamaki allegedly attacked the girl in front of the girl's house in Higashisumiyoshi Ward at around 3:05 p.m. Monday after the 8-year-old was separated from a neighbor woman who walked with her from school after picking up her own child, according to the police.

In the same city, exactly one week earlier:

Japan: 10-Year-Old Girl Stabbed by Friend's Mother

A 10-year-old girl was stabbed in the abdomen by her friend's mother on Sunday afternoon in Osaka Prefecture, police said. The fifth-grader is conscious and the injury is not life-threatening, police said. She was visiting her friend's apartment in Toyonaka when the 42-year-old woman apparently stabbed her with a kitchen knife at around 4 p.m., they said.

Police arrested the woman on suspicion of attempted murder. According to the local fire department, the girl had a stab wound in her abdomen and said while being transported to hospital that she was stabbed all of a sudden.

The girl was visiting the apartment from around noon Sunday and she was playing a video game with her friend when the woman stabbed her saying, ''Don't kill my daughter,'' police said.

The friend's father, who was also in the apartment at the time, called police.

People are "going off" left, right and center.

GARDENER STABBED WHILE MOWING LAWN IN CONCORD
May 20, 2010 14:49 pm · 26 comments

At 10:40 this morning, a gardener was stabbed in the neck while working at the Palm Terrace apartment complex at 2925 Monument Boulevard.
Lt. Andrew Gartner with the Concord Police Department says the 29-year-old victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
A gardener cutting the complex lawns was attacked from behind without provocation and stabbed one time in the neck with an unknown cutting instrument.
The suspect simultaneously fled on foot into the complex and could only be described by the victim as a dark skinned male wearing a white or black shirt.
A canine search and trail for the suspect was not successful.

Thanks to Lt. Gartner for the information on the stabbing.

If it was a robbery, the officer would have reported that something was stolen. If the perpetrator had a grudge against the victim, he probably could have easily finished off the victim.
Oddly enough, this reminded me of some of the recent games on the consoles (PS3, Xbox360) where the protagonist of the game is an assassin and sneaks up on his enemies from behind to stab his enemy.

I treated a guy who was stabbed last night, well glassed in the face to be exact. Nasty stuff, it was pretty much spontaneous according to witnesses.

The city is moving to my little country town.

Assassin's Creed?
If yes, this game is somewhat creepy.

Sorry I have not read most of this thread I probably shouldn't post. however I have wanted to say something about the slew of stabbing articles on sott.net for some time now. The main thing I want to ask is: what's the point? what is the use of re-posting stabbing attack articles?

People get stabbed everyday, maybe the motive is to make people more aware of this... from a personal perspective the the articles have just made me more scared and anxious when I'm out in public, and especially if I see someone with a knife in their pocket. Why not post some OBJECTIVE data, maybe stabbing victims have have increased in the last few years? maybe some actual data could be researched? Instead these stabbing articles are just reposted maybe giving some people like me a distorted reality about the actual odds of getting stabbed.

I think they have their value in that it makes people more aware of violence and "evil" at the same time isn't disinfo if its not put into context. For instance say sott.net writes 100 articles about stabbing attacks and one article about a shooting, well its kind of skewing the reality.

whatever the "message" is, whatever the point is to the high volume of stabbing attacks which is documented on sign of the times, why not convey it in an original news piece that has been researched.

I like sott.net a lot just these articles have been confusing me... like I said I have not read this thread, so perhaps I am being ignorant.

I read through this thread, expecting someone to reference a C's session because every time I see another stabbing article, I think of two things: deliberate control or influence on our mind's and the disintegration discussed in Session 20 June 2009:

A: Location amplifies the kinds of waves mentioned earlier leading to rapid disintegration.

Q: (L) So it's like underground water, or electromagnetic, or some kind of power point or something like that?

A: Yes

Q: (A**) So people are just disintegrating, and they're all hanging themselves. (Joe) Twenty four of them, all hung themselves. (A***) All under the age of thirty. (L) Well, you've got HAARP going, you've got microwave towers going, you've got cosmic waves going. (DD) I had a friend commit suicide in Tulsa last week.

A: Expect a lot more unstable behavior all over.

I believe all of us, including the earth, are susceptible to increased "pressures" as everything seems to be amping up.

I think, wetroof, if you take the time to read the entire thread, you’ll understand why the articles are appearing. In particular, I think Perceval’s remarks in this message are pertinent. They give some insight into how and why certain stories are published on SOTT. But the entire thread is worth a read.

The thread was started around the time that China was having a rash of bizarre stabbings of school children by adults.

What was noticed, at the time, was that there was a significant increase in reports of stabbings in general and in particular, stabbings in which the perpetrator was either in a daze or couldn't explain why they did it.

This thread was not designed to capture all stabbings, rather the stabbings of a certain spontaneous nature, leaving out incidences of escalating arguments and bar fights that resulted in stabbings, unless they too had a bizarre component.

The criteria was refined a little further into the thread.

Incidentally, it is always better to put the effort into reading a thread before asking a question, as the question might have already been answered. It shows external consideration and a willingness to invest one's energy instead of asking others to expend energy for you.

Regards,
Gonzo

Just to add to the thread.

"Knivbrott allt vanligare i Göteborg / Knife-crime all the more usual in Gothenburg"

An article in the biggest local newspaper, not that size matters when reporting, but it said that Gotenburg had a increase in stabbings as well.

New incident from China:

3 kids, teacher killed in China attack
AP, Beijing

A knife-wielding man went on a slashing rampage in a kindergarten in eastern China, leaving three children and one teacher dead, area residents reported Wednesday.

The unidentified assailant entered the school in a suburb of Zibo in Shandong province at about 4pm Tuesday as parents were picking up their children, according to people living nearby contacted by telephone.

About 20 children and staff were injured, two of the children seriously, they said.

China this year has suffered a spate of gory rampage attacks on schools and in public spaces, leaving dozens of people dead and scores wounded.

A woman who works in a restaurant opposite the Boshan District Experimental Kindergarten's Jinfengyuan branch said the attacker was a man aged 27 or 28 who had gained entry to the school by posing as a parent.

Police rushed to the kindergarten soon after the attack and officers transported some injured children to hospital before ambulances had time to arrive, said the woman, who would give only her surname, Zhang.

"The kindergarten has been sealed off until now. There're still police officers there," Zhang said.

Zhang and other area residents said the teacher died of her injuries Wednesday morning.

The Zibo killings came just two days after a man in Hebei province to the west went on a rampage at the wheel of his earthmover, smashing vehicles and buildings and leaving 17 dead.

Other recent mass killings include a May 12 attack on a kindergarten in the northern province of Shaanxi that left seven children and two adults dead and the wounding of 29 children at a kindergarten in Jiangsu province in April.

The seemingly unrelated attacks have prompted calls for more attention to diagnosing serious mental illnesses and ignited fears over the toll stress is taking on the nation's emotional health.

Authorities have responded with increased security at schools and orders to limit media coverage of the attacks to discourage copycats.

Local officials in Zibo hung up the phone when reporters called for information on the attack.
