Hello everyone,
First of all I read the SOTT news page every day. I scan and read the forums pages too but not as often. I believe that I have learned more in the last few years than I have my entire life previous of this. I feel that I’m definitely not the same person now as I was a few years ago and this being for the better. Also, I am a male now in my mid 50’s.
With all of this being said, I would like to tell you about a “dream” or I would say more like an experience I had last night and would like to get some input from anyone that has experienced anything similar to what I did.
Basically, I’m just trying to find out what just happened to me. Although this experience is a little embarrassing, my desire to understand it is stronger than the feeling to suppress it. Five years ago this experience would have scared the hell out of me but now I feel a little differently. I went to bed about 10:40 last night. I was very tired and sleepy and dozed of quickly which generally takes me awhile to fall asleep.
After I dozed off I actually believed I was lying on my stomach on the couch in my family room rather than in my bed. I realized that I could not move. I knew that I was experiencing sleep paralysis which I get every so often. It was like someone or something was holding me down by the small of my back and my head. I felt my genital area warming up considerably but not to the point of being hot.
At this point I had the feeling of being in a hallway leading to the doorway of a room but had no door. Everything that I saw was in black and white. Kind of like the old television sets that we had when I was a kid before color tv. Also, during this experience I kept hearing what sounded like an electrical motor running from somewhere with an occasional sound that resembled an electrical current short circuiting. Inside the room was a naked woman on a bed. Since I was not actually in the room but standing in the hallway just outside the room all I could see of her was from the neck down.
The corner of the hallway wall prevented me from seeing her head or face. There was something else in the room but it didn’t seem like a person but rather a force. It seemed like the woman was either jumping on the bed or being picked up and thrown around by this unseen or undetectable force that was in the room with her. I couldn’t tell if the woman was upset or a willing participant.
It seemed like both at the same time which I felt was very odd. During all of this, I had the complete understanding that I was not actually in the hallway but lying on my couch in my family room. I felt like the most important thing for me to do was to just wake up. But, because I couldn’t move I had to force myself to try to move. With much and continued effort I tried rolling over but that didn’t work.
Finally I tried to bend my knees which I did and my feet went up into the air. At this point I was able to move my body and eventually woke up. At that time it was 11:20 pm. Forty minutes passed by from the time I fell asleep to the time I woke up.
I noticed being covered with sweat although this is common every night whether I remember dreams or not. I was aroused and my genital area was still very warm. I wear sweat pants to bed and stripped them off quickly because my knees and my thighs, 4 to 6 inches above my knees itched intensely. For maybe 30 seconds I scratched my thighs and knees to relieve the itch. I then laid back down trying to remember as clearly as I could what just happened to me.
The feeling most noticeable and believe it or not kind of disturbing was that I felt very relaxed and calm although I was a bit upset because I felt like I was violated.
I was also upset with myself because rather than trying to use a muscle in my body to wake myself up, I didn’t try to use my mind to create a situation where I could have taken control of the experience to begin with. I have read a little about the Buddhist philosophy about the 7 chakra energy centers. I feel that this whole thing was more about the transfer of energy through the sexual chakra than it was about sex. However, I couldn’t tell whether energy was taken from me or given to me.
I would highly suspect taken though. I have read the “hag” dream stories both on this forum and from other sources about the ugly, old woman that will sit on a man’s chest and temporarily paralyze him for various reasons. I think this could have been a possibility as well since I couldn’t see what was behind me while lying on my stomach and experiencing paralysis. Even though I was tired I was worried about going back to sleep and it happening again and what sleep I did get the rest of the night was fitful at best.
For anyone that has had similar experiences, I would be interested in hearing your views and opinions and even related experiences if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe with a little networking we can come up with a list of actions we could try the next time this happens to break the paralysis and take control rather than be controlled.
