I stumbled upon this board when looking for a general board (wide variety). This was suggested to me. I accidentally put the site name in wrong, so I googled, but I came across a result of someone asking if they chanced upon a psychopath forum. Someone replied that it was run by psychopaths. Is this forum really run by psychopaths? I am only wondering.

I see this site as a massive learning centre, its a place that sifts through all the crap info out there to find the truth and some of it will amaze you!

Not sure I understand here. You found a forum recommending this forum, and someone said it was run by psychopaths? If that's the case, you should know that this is one of the few forums on the internet that strives to exclude psychopaths, educate about them, and maintain a high level of 'mental hygiene'. If it were a treehouse club, there would be a sign (among others) saying "No psychopaths!" But of course, you shouldn't just take my word for it. Read up on the subject and see how we discuss things here, what is and isn't allowed, and you should come to see how it works. It's a skill that isn't taught in the 'real world', which is why psychopaths are present in, and influence, corporations, politics, the military, the banks, etc.

Also, welcome to the forum. As a newbie here, we would ask that you post an introduction in the newbie section so we can all get to know you. Happy reading!

I don't know to what extent you are familiar with psychopathy, although I see you wrote elsewhere that you "believe them to be born", so you seem to have some understanding of the topic.

Now, what kind of direct experience do you have of dealing with psychopaths? People who have had such experiences know not to ask the psychopath outright, "Are you a psychopath?" because they understand that psychopaths lie all the time. Even when they tell the truth, psychopaths are lying.

So if this were a forum run by psychopaths, what kind of answer would you be expecting? "Yes, we're all psychopaths, welcome, are you one of us?"

Hardly!

So I'll assume for now that your question is sincere and answer you by saying that no, this is not a forum run by and for psychopaths, it is a forum that discusses psychopathy and psychopaths. Your source is misinformed.

Yeah... I think a search result I came across might've given me the wrong idea of the place. I came here, and I thought that perhaps it was a general forum board. Then I noticed there was some sort of subject it was created for. I have no idea what that subject is though...

This forum is mainly for discussing the most undiscussed topics on the planet today. Have a look at the home page topics and you'll get an idea.

You make quite a few assumptions there... there ARE places in which people do discuss psychopathy or related subjects, and are open about it. Even a psychopath may feel uncomfortable never talking about themselves. Some people are friends with people they know to be psychopaths as well. Saying that a psychopath is lying when they tell the truth is just silly, and of course untrue. A psychopath has no reason not to lie, but it's not a requirement that someone lies about anything and everything to be a psychopath. Yes, it's possible that someone may tell someone else that they are a psychopath, or go to a place for psychopaths. It's more unlikely that they will go public with the fact they are a psychopath. I've spoken to a few, and I know of one online who can't reveal any intimate details about himself because he is a known figure in public and his career would like him to have empathy...

As for the person who said that this place excludes them, I won't trust that there are none here. You can't tell who is and who isn't one. A psychopath doesn't need to act like an "evil person" to be a psychopath. I'm sure if someone is abusing others here, it doesn't matter if they're a psychopath or aren't a psychopath. I'd much rather have a psychopath who wants to stay and will therefore be behaved as opposed to someone who isn't one and wants to be malicious.

Psychopaths feeling uncomfortable? When under threat of having food removed, perhaps. Otherwise, the only people who can feel uncomfortable talking about psychopaths are normal people. We try to facilitate an environment where normal people feel comfortable discussing psychopathy and their experiences with psychopaths.

A psychopath has no reason not to lie, but it's not a requirement that someone lies about anything and everything to be a psychopath.

A psychopath has every reason to lie. It's all they know. They breathe lies. Now, do they know that they are lying? I don't know. If we assume that they are unable to understand what we mean by a 'fact', then how could they discern truth from lies? That's really a question for normal people, who have the ability to know lies from truth. We are prone to projecting our understanding of reality onto psychopaths, who inner reality is so totally alien to us that we will probably never be able to understand it.

What I meant when I said that a psychopath is lying when they tell the truth is that they will say something that just so happens to be true, but only because it coincides, by accident, with helping them achieve their aim of stealing something they want. The context in which the truth is uttered remains a duplicitous one and forms part of a targeted narrative that, overall, is a lie ("I'm your friend"... "I can help you"... I'm devoted to you only"... "I can make you rich", etc.)

I'm sure he gets by just fine. Any pity fed to him would only make him a stronger psychopath.
