Are you afraid of "penetration"?

:scared: I know, sounds horrible ;).

But I don't talk about that kind of penetration (but that also), even the word penetration makes me feel uncomfortable. When I'm smoking I don't know how to inhale, or even when I breath I have to concentrate to inhale.
I don't have much to say about it, I just realize that couple days ago and I didn't know should I write about it or not. But because I want to explore and open my self to the people on forum I just did, spontaneously.

I'm very interested what else thinks about that word and feeling. ;)

p.s. hope my introduction in this topic wasn't rude.

Do I understand you correctly, there's a fear for you to inhale the smoke when you're smoking tobacco and that you generally have difficulties when inhaling while breathing? (Correct me if I misunderstood.) If that's the case, then this sounds like a general wrong way of breathing with the lungs instead of with the belly, which many of us learned in life in order to not feel painful emotions. Are you doing the EE breathing program? If not, that's a very helpful tool for re-learning to breathe naturally again.

You are right about of part of breathing and EE.

I have practiced yoga and meditation before and I have learned to breath inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose. Obviously wrong, my yoga teacher was fan of Eastern philosophy :/.

But it is not just a breathing penetration that frighten's me. I know that probably sound silly but I was just wonder what others thinks about that word.
I don't like idea to inhale anything in my self :scared:.

I forgot to answer your question about EE. I'm practicing sometimes and not fully even I know that helps me a lot. Talking with my self everyday to practice regularly. :-[

Are you talking about the smoke penetrating your lungs? If that's the case, if you have ever seen someone smoke a cigar, they draw on the cigar, hold it in their mouth for a few seconds, then blow it out. With cigarettes, there is a second step. You would draw the smoke into your mouth (like a cigar) then inhale it into your lungs. Hope that makes sense. There are some videos on youtube on how to smoke/inhale cigars. Just add the 2nd step, inhaling into your lungs.

If it's just a fear thing, that's something you can explore - why you feel that way. On the other hand, smoking isn't for everyone, so don't feel weird if you don't take to it. :)

Do you mean you are afraid of breathing, eating, drinking? What does "breathing penetration" mean?

I know that it sounds like I'm joking or something. But I'm not.

If I'm thinking that I'm inhaling like something goes inside of me that's scares me.
I don't have that problem when I'm eating, on the contrary, I like to eat, who doesn't like. Or drinking?

Maybe I was rushing with this topic because I can't explain to my self what did I mean, so how can I explain to others.

My apologize. That was very childish.

Not sure if it is childish or not. Sometimes our minds build associations between objects, concepts, words, emotions, etc. that are not easy to explain. You might try to see what association of ideas may bring up. After that, you may build other associations of ideas (breathing is like drinking air, for example). Not sure if it's related to the issue though.

Simple solution: don't smoke.

Don't worry about the fact that you inhale more deadly pollutants from the ordinary atmosphere than you can imagine, and that in many cases, nicotine is protecting not only your brain but also your lungs. Many scientific articles on sott about it. Just forget all that because you obviously are more afraid due to brainwashing and you'll just make yourself sick unless and until you change your beliefs.

:) I was just thinking the same thing. Talking with my friend about it and she said the same thing like you did - that could be word (trigger) for me. I started to cry when I was talked about it.

I'm feeling very vulnerable like a woman, like some on rape me with that word just by saying in it.

This is also great advice when I think about it. I didn't mean only about inhale cigarette but this could also be true because I hated cigarettes before I meet Earwen and she told me all about it benefits of the smoking. I fought that every smoker is pathetic and weak, also my father was a smoker for 20 years and I really don't have a nice feelings for him.

I know that smoking helps me because I'm very nervous person and this calming me down.

Well, I guess you are learning now that to be a smoker, you have to be strong. Every person I ever admired smoked.

As for the word, I'm a male, and I do find it quite "dirty". But as for inhalation of smoke into the lungs, yes I do fear it. But I think because I haven't successfully made smoking a habit. Every time I ususally give up because it makes my lung burn, the top left to be exact. I don't think I fit the profile.

I think it may be a lung issue in general. I have difficulty speaking for long periods. And the rare occasion when I try to beatbox, or when I used to mess with a didgeridoo, I run out of breath quickly.

I suppose cigars are still an option. And I like the smell of tobacco. FWIW.

My mother had a collapsed lung and she would run out of breath quickly. If the burning is localized, then I would suspect some kind of problem rather than blame the smoking.

Forgive me if I'm off base but it sounds like there has been some trauma in your past (perhaps childhood when ideas and concepts are forming) and you have linked a trauma to the idea of penetration. Perhaps it would be good to speak with a therapist about this and see if you can come out with something more coherent than a vague fear of "penetration".

That was just my 'blink' reaction anyway - could be totally wrong.
