Ark's picture of the day

My Goodness! You have a pink toilet AND a hydrophillic cat! That is totally cool. I wish I could train my two cats to stop using the smallest rooms in the house as a prey corral. I get sick of cleaning up feathers and standing (inadvertantly) on half eaten mice casually left on bath mats.
Wow Penelope is a really cool cat. My cat (Luna) is not an outdoor cat, but I also wish she would learn to use the (human) potty by herself. Does Penelope really use the (human) potty?? Or was she just looking at it? Luna has defenetly shown some 3D behaviour to me as well. For example she eats with her paws instead of sticking her face into the bowl. And she has done this ever since she was a kitten.

Oh, yes, but not exactly the same way humans are using it ... :)

Im sure the next picture shows Penelope shooting through the carpet with wet paws! YUCK :o

By the way, cats LOVE tasty water! Ours always drank out of the fish aquarium and the bathtub. Never was interested in the floating fishes. Clean water from the water pipe? Forget it!

On Tuesdays Penelope is just Penelope.

Laura, on the other hand, on Tuesdays climbs the dangerous roofs (of the Auch Cathedral in this case)

To the roof:

Penelope! I wonder if the snuggle ruitine has remained the same ;)
I am a cat owner my self ( a proud owner of a rare Urbanus Originalus breed :) ) but I have no doubt that Penelope is a perfect cat ever. And I am in no way biased or something :D

Wow what a beautiful and interesting spiral! And talk about being on the edge, did Laura decide to give them a hand with the restoration:) - how high up is that buttress?

Pretty high. We climbed well over a hundred steps of that amazing spiral staircase which had no visible central support. The spiral stairs continued on up and we exited through a wooden door onto the ledge that went around the building just under the buttresses.

Here is an image of the Cathedral from the rear - the bottom of the D'Artagnan monumental staircase that leads up to the Armagnac Tower; you can see the buttresses.

You can also see the Armagnac tower in the image Ark posted in our "view from the roof", though it is a lot closer. Obviously, there is another roof, one on the absolute top, but I think the guy didn't want us to attract attention running about on THAT roof so he was being a bit covert about our little private tour. Based on the amount of dust and cobwebs in the tower, not many people go up there.

I've now got a good set of photos of the Choir and some other features that are not in my first Auch Cathedral Album and will be getting them organized and made available soon. Every time we go, we find new things.

D'Artagnan staircase - was it named in honour of Dumas main hero character? Did you make profile photos of this staircase? It has like Si La Sol Fa groups of steps and then makes 90 degrees turn and looks like is much more gently sloping. Reminds of Muravieff. or maybe i just see riddles everywhere, where they are not.

The photo of the stone spiral is looking up into the "tube" formed by the central part of the constantly circling staircase. It just goes 'round and 'round and 'round. Actually makes you dizzy. And it is in a round tower so you are in a round thing going around a central support that is not there!!! I have heard something about this staircase, that it is famous for it's extraordinary construction. I'll see what I can find on it.

D'Artagnan is considered native of Auch, there should be many brasseries with 3 mushketeers theme in Auch. And D'Artagnan propelled me to ... Lombez!
Arnaud de Moles, master who made Auch Cathedral windows, made also Windows in Cathedral of Sainte Marie in Lombez (was called Lumbarium by Romans), Gers. Lombez is situated on route D626 near Tolouse and Auch. The saint Majan decided to built a chapel here in the 6th century. The Benedictines of Saint-Thib

Day after Laura was climbing the roof of the Auch Cathedral, I was doing my own climbing: the "social duties":

And no, it was not a funeral!

It was the ceremony of giving the title of the "Chevalier de l'Ordre National de Merit de la France" to the President of the "Chambres des Commerce et d'Industrie"

In the last photo with faces hidden:

1) The three blind mice?
2) The three stooges? Moe, Larry, Curly?
3) The three musketeers?

Hmmm... I give up!
