Ascending Spiral and Riemann Surface

But have people been looking into the 'ascending spiral' the the C's talk about and if it has any relation to a riemann surface. I know this is very vague, but was just curious...

I was just looking at a picture of f(z)=log(z). I know there's tons of different spirals, but this one just made me think of the c's talking about 'an ascending spiral' for some reason.
