The assailant of Robert Fico is tentatively a well-known Slovak writer Juraj Cintula. In addition to his main activity, he was an activist of the country's liberal party. This is reported by local media. In 2016, Cintula worked as a security guard at a shopping centre. One day, he was beaten up by a drug addict who went on a rampage in the supermarket. After this story, newspapers wrote about Juraj and local TV channels reported about him.

Attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Fico: can Russia be involved in this
- On May 15, there was an attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, who was seriously wounded in the stomach and chest.
- Russian propagandists suggested a Ukrainian "trace" in this crime.
- Oleksandr Musienko believes that the attempt could have been planned by Russia and aimed at increasing the chances of anti-European forces to enter the European Parliament before the upcoming elections.
- Russia may use this incident to spread disinformation in Europe.
Thanks, but that won't do. Ukrops does not count, they have been crazy for a long time and they have nothing but Russia in their head at all. Some Europeans, Czechs, for example, or the British. At the very least, the Poles. That's for you, @youlik
Fico expected an assassination attempt
Prime Minister Robert Fico's political opponents have wished him a speedy recovery, but representatives of the ruling coalition say that it is the opposition and the liberal press, which are constantly ratting against Fico, that are responsible for what has happened.
According to Andrej Danko of the SNS (Slovak National Party), a political war will now begin and there will be changes in the media and in the approach to the opposition. If Fico stays in hospital for a longer period, he will have to be replaced by one of the deputy prime ministers, probably Robert Kaliňák.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Robert Fico predicted a few weeks ago that someone would be injured due to the incitement of the opposition and the left-liberal press. "I just expect that the frustration caused by Denník N, Šimečka (chairman of Progressive Slovakia) or Aktuality.sk will end in an assassination attempt on one of the ruling party politicians. And this is not at all an exaggeration," said the Slovak Prime Minister. So it did not take long for the prediction to come true.
According to the UK's Sky News, "it is not surprising that this event could have happened", as Robert Fico is "very pro-Russian" and although "Slovakia is not a big player in the EU", like, for example, Hungary, wherever it can, it puts the brakes on and blocks support for Ukraine, which strongly divides society. According to reports in the Slovak press, the Prime Minister is still undergoing surgery.
It is worth mentioning that after the assassination attempt on the Slovak Prime Minister, social networks were flooded with a wave of posts - many of them in Ukrainian - whose authors not only agree with the attacker, but also express the hope that Viktor Orbán also deserves it. Why? Because he does not subordinate himself and does not support Ukraine unconditionally. (...)

He always pops up whenever his presence is required to warn misfits and discipline even team players who are inattentive to their tasks.

Did security fail in the assassination of the Prime Minister? According to the former head of the Office for the Protection of Constitutional Officers, the officers in Handlová made a number of mistakes. From the operation to the intervention itself. The former head of the security guards is convinced that with the right procedures, the shooting would not even have had to happen.
Slovak security analyst Juraj Zábojník, who was the director of the Office for the Protection of Constitutional Officers and Diplomatic Missions, found several mistakes when analysing the security intervention.
According to him, the reactions of its members were slow and some gave the impression that they did not even know how to react. According to Zábojník, the suspicious behaviour of the attacker just before the assassination should have been noticed by the security guards.
