Australia preparing for war with China

Hi All,
I was hoping for some guidance.

Just saw a 60 minutes clip of a story about how we (Australia) are preparing for conflict with China, so I decided to do some internet research, but didn't find much other than a lot of opinion, and on more than one occasion, reference to a Lowly poll 2010 report.

One comment did stick out from one person that it has more to do with American corporations, which makes me feel like it has more possibility, simply because he was a lone wolf in making that comment.

Anyway, I'd like to ask of you here, what would be the best approach into learning more of what is actually going on. Why this story is coming out, is it just fear mongering, if so, how do we find this out, and prove it? Is it true, and if so, what is the real reason behind it?

Where would you look first for your information regarding this? What sources would you instantly regard as disinformation?

I'd really like to investigate this, with anyone's help if possible

Many thanks
Dean

Personally, I regard everything on 60 Minutes and A Current Affair as hilariously bad propaganda. True blue Australians losing out on jobs to asylum seekers, paedophiles watching your children walk to school, how you are being ripped off by electricity companies (well, that one isn't a complete lie) and a variety of other personal interest stories to fan the flames of public outrage. So we're too busy being outraged over the pensioner who was conned out of his home by a snake oil salesmen while the real snake oil salesmen have conned us out of our real homes -- the planet.

I only caught portions of the report on war with China, but FWIW it does sound like a fear-inducing distraction to me.

I have to concur with Nathan. Sixty Minutes has long been known to be the realm of "chequebook journalism" and as such only produces stories for entertainment value.

I never thought of that possible connection. My friend is actually one of the main actors in that film so I might ask him if he knows what the deal is there. In the young adult books they are based on, the ethnicity of the invading force is always unknown. It's a plot device and I'm a bit disappointed to hear that the film adaptation made them look Asian. If I was directing, I would have purposely left them faceless, concealed behind masks and goggles. There's mention of this problem in a review I've posted below. Aside from the oddly out of place pop soundtrack, this seems to be the main flaw in the film:

The major issue with Tomorrow, When the War Began is the representation of the Asian invaders. There is a scene where one character states that it doesn’t matter who the invaders are or what country they have come from – the point is that they have invaded Australia and that’s all the characters and the audience need to know. (There is even an acknowledgement that Australia has been invaded once before.) But if the invaders are merely plot devices without political implications then why represent them as being so specifically one particular race? Why not make them completely nondescript? In the extremely unlikely scenario that Australia is ever invaded then those invaders would probably be from a nearby country (most of which are Asian) but this is not a realistic film so maintaining that ‘authenticity’ is not necessary. Evoking Australian cultural anxieties over the fear of a specifically Asian invasion without addressing the issues that it raises is problematic and a little bit careless.

Nagging concerns about the questionable subtext aside, Tomorrow, When the War Began is an intelligent blockbuster that holds its own with most of Hollywood’s recent output. Hopefully it will be popular enough to generate a franchise based on the rest of the books in Marsden’s series but with the future films showing perhaps a little more grittiness and definitely a little less naivety in how it represents the invaders.

Honestly, I think the most likely reason is because Australia is mostly surrounded by Asian countries, but such logic seems, well, illogical to me. I watched the trailer and assumed they were Caucasian, perhaps American. This seemed more logical.

I don't watch 60 minutes anymore, but it seems rather ludicrous to think Australia would start something with China.

My Generation game is much funnier for the 7.30pm time slot.

Nice observation

Hi Dingo,

do you use that nic on another board? :)

I have just finished a blog on a related topic. I have collected a deal of evidence to suggest that the Chinese are using the minerals which we sell them (lots of iron ore and other war industry minerals) to build up their armed forces. In essence Australia is providing the Chinese with the raw materials to threaten us and anyone else they choose.

It is ironic that Robert Menzies was nick named "pig iron Bob" by the left wing in Australia for supplying raw materials to the Japanese which they used to arm themselves and build a large navy. They used to it to effect in WW2 and almost invaded us.

I wonder if sometime down the track, Rudd will be seen as "pig iron Kevin?"

BTW, the Chinese navy is growing rapidly, it will be larger than the US navy in a short period of time. Also the Chinese navy have moved into the Mediterranean Sea. It was invited by Italy. So their naval sphere of influence is quite large.

The only way to effectively threaten Australia is with naval power. We are an island. China is rapidly acquiring the means to threaten us. Make no mistake.

Hi Dingo,

do you use that nic on another board? Smiley

I might do, but this is the only forum I visit of this nature.

My research that was sparked by this led me to a couple of pieces, namely that the chinese are buying up our farmland under the radar, and the Labour governments are helping it along.

Hi Dingo,

after thinking about it, 60Mins having an article on Australia preparing for war with China, would kind of condition us to acceptance; maybe because we are expecting it, we will be easier to handle and herd. A type of mass hypnotism. Same with the movie Tomorrow When The War ..whatever.

From what we know of the Cass stuff, the NWO deal has been sealed for a long time, so maybe this is the next stride forward to this aim - a staged war. I noticed too, as I was flicking channels the other night, there was a China theme on that "My Gen" show. More conditioning? I''ll be watching out for other indications.....

Maybe that's why the election was so well, blase - it was like no one gave a toss - they know what's coming up?

The "northern horde" scaremongering has been with us for a good while now.

China is another hierarchy, just like other hierarchies that own Oz, although they've had a few thousand years to get the business model right. The best indication of what China is up to IMHO is see what they are doing in regards to Taiwan, it's always been a thorn in their side.

We just have to look at the sums to see what can happen here. Australia has 20 million + population in a huge land mass, massive amounts of iron ore, uranium and gold etc., and no military might of our own, so to speak. China on the other hand is armed to the teeth, has a population of 1.3 billion, which are packed to the rafters, and enough money to buy Australia, which they've already started as pointed out here.

Once our allies (America & UK) start to crumble do you think they'll keep paying us for our land and resources? Let's hope the wave gets here first and maybe we'll all be on a level playing field. Mayhem anyone?

HSBC is facilitating second and third party trade settlement in yuan and the other Anglo-American banking predators aren't worried about China trade. They just want a piece of the action or is it auction. I wouldn't worry about China, but you might take a closer look at your hereditary and predatory masters in the Anglo-American banking establishment operating out of the City of London. Anglo-American intelligence agencies are probably responsible for the fear mongering MSM productions Dingo mentions so that you Aussie's continue to believe the threat is from China, not from your friendly global corporations and banksters.

Yuan Trading Against Russian Ruble Said to Start Within Weeks in Shanghai
By Artyom Danielyan and Emma O’Brien - Sep 8, 2010 4:54 AM PT

China and Russia plan to start trading in each other’s currencies as the world’s second-biggest energy consumer and the largest energy supplier seek to diminish the dollar’s role in global trade.

China may start trading its currency against the ruble within weeks, three bankers with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg, and sent out a document last week allowing lenders to apply for ruble trading licenses, one of them said. Russia’s Micex Stock Exchange is making preparations to trade the ruble against the yuan in an initiative that has the backing of the country’s central bank, Ruben Aganbegyan, the head of the bourse, told reporters at a conference in Moscow today.

“Given the risk to the dollar and U.S. assets from their fiscal position they want to reduce their dependence on the dollar as an invoicing currency,” Bhanu Baweja, global head of emerging markets fixed income, currency and credit research at UBS AG, said in a phone interview from London. “It makes sense for two large economies to exclude a third, overly dominant economy from their trading equation.”

In the wake of the global financial crisis, which forced the U.S. economy into recession, both China and Russia have called for the dollar’s role in the financial system to be diluted. Volatility in major currencies is putting the global recovery at risk Zhang Ping, the head of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, said last month. President Dmitry Medvedev last year suggested Russia, holder of the world’s third-largest foreign-currency reserves, reduce its holdings of dollar.

Yuan-Ringgit Trading

The yuan slid 0.06 percent to 6.7953 per dollar today paring its gains since the central bank ended a two-year dollar peg on June 19 to 0.4 percent. Russia’s ruble weakened 0.3 percent to 30.9225 per dollar by 2:15 p.m. in Moscow today, and has fallen 2.1 percent versus the greenback so far this year.

The euro gained 0.2 percent to 1.2712 per dollar today, and jumped 2.5 percent against the U.S. currency last year.

The People’s Bank of China started yuan trading against the Malaysian ringgit between banks on Aug. 19. It already allows trading of the renminbi versus the dollar, the Hong Kong dollar, Japanese yen and the euro on its interbank market and China’s Foreign Exchange Trading Center provides daily reference rates for these currencies. The yuan is a non-deliverable currency that is managed by the central bank to prevent volatility.

‘Fully Convertible’

The ruble, which Bank Rossii targets against a dollar-euro basket, is a “fully convertible” currency and some Chinese banks have already been allowed to open ruble trading accounts, Russia’s Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Pankin told reporters in Moscow today. The opening of cross-currency trade between the yuan and the ruble is more important for China, he said. “They are gradually allowing more currency operations with yuan,” he said.

China overtook Germany as Russia’s second-largest trading partner in the first six months of the year, helped by exports of Russian commodities such as aluminum, nickel and oil and gas. Trade between China and Russia jumped 50 percent to $30.7 billion in the first seven months of this year, compared with the same period in 2009, China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Aug. 21.

The world’s fastest-growing economy is seeking to eliminate the need to convert yuan holdings in to dollars before converting in to rubles to pay for Russian commodities, Baweja said.

Dollar Elimination

“China wants to reduce the volatility in its access to primary goods,” he said. “They want to reduce their dependence on the dollar in trade transactions.”

HSBC Bank (China) Co. and Bank of Communications Co. completed the first yuan-ringgit transactions, according to the Foreign Exchange Trading Center, which is affiliated with the central bank. The central bank was investigating the possibility of offering new currency pairs on the interbank market, including ruble, won and ringgit, an unnamed official at the center said in April.

“Gradually the dollar is being eliminated from the foreign-trade settlement flows,” said Dariusz Kowalczyk, a Hong-Kong based senior economist at Credit Agricole CIB. “People are beginning to trade Asian currencies without intermediation via the dollar.”

Hi go2,

I don't suppose you could summarise - is this a move toward the one currency idea do you think? The visa, as per below?

A: Visa.
Q: (L) You mean as in credit card?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Are credit cards the work of what 666 represents?
A: Yes?
Q: (L) Should we get rid of all credit cards?
A: Up to you.
Q: (L) Would it be more to our advantage than not to disconnect ourselves from the credit system?
A: Isn't just credit also debit.
Q: (L) Is that an affirmative.
A: How are you going to do this?
Q: (L) Well, do you have any suggestions?
A: World will soon have nothing but credit and debit have you not heard of this new visa debit cards this is the future of money as controlled by the world banking system i.e. the brotherhood i.e. Lizards i.e. antichrist.
Q: (L) If I don't have a credit card then I don't have to belong to this system?
A: No. You will have no choices: belong or starve.
Q: (L) What happened to free will?
A: Brotherhood aka Lizards aka antichrist has interfered with free will for 309000 years. They are getting desperate as we near the change.
Q: (V) It has always been my nature to rebel against that which I did not feel was good for me. Is rebellion against this system possible?
A: If you are willing to leave the body.
Q: (L) Leave the body as in death, croak, kick the bucket?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) If we were to move...
A: Changes will follow turmoil be patient.
Q: (L) We would like to move into the country. Will it be possible to get along without this credit/debit card leading that kind of life?
A: No.
Q: (L) Are they going to have the kind of capability of controlling everything and everybody no matter where they are?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Even if we moved to Guyana and built a log hut in the rain forest and didn't bother anybody, we'd still get sucked into this thing?
A: Laura you will feel the effect of the Lizard beings desperate push for total control no matter where you go.
Q: (L) That is inexpressibly depressing. Do you understand?
A: Why? Change will follow.
Q: (L) Will it follow soon?
A: You are slipping a bit. Refer to Literature "Bringers of the Dawn". Challenge will be ecstasy if viewed with proper perspective which is not, we repeat: not of third level reality, understand?
Q: (L) In the reference cited, Joan of Arc is described as feeling ecstatic while burning at the stake. Is that what you mean?
A: Sort of, but you need not burn at the stake.
Q: (L) That's small comfort. There's other ways to die.
A: We are not speaking of death, Laura. If you listen to those who are firmly rooted in 3rd level this is when you run the risk of slipping in your knowledge learned no matter how good the intentions i.e. Lewis.
Q: (L) What do you mean about Lewis?
A: Guyana.
Q: (L) What do you mean "Challenge will be ecstasy"? What sort of challenge?
A: Living through the turmoil ahead.
Q: (L) Several books I have read have advised moving to rural areas and forming groups and storing food etc...
A: Disinformation. Get rid of this once and for all. That is 3rd level garbage.

"Challenge will be ecstasy if viewed with proper perspective which is not, we repeat: not of third level reality" I'll try to keep this more in mind.

It is more likely a move towards internal fiat currency blocks, with the international account balances settled in gold. I do not know the structure at the highest levels, but we do know the currency systems are control systems. The dollar reserve system holds the savings of the labor and creativity of a generation of humanity. The collapse of the dollar reserve system is initiated by the PTB moving to a fresh fiat system...the Euro and the Yuan....to steal the next generation's labor. The wealth of a generation has already been stolen, except the small amount used for humanities maintenance. Our lives and our children's lives are used to maintain the control systems of war, money, energy, and information. We pay for our chains. This is a prison and we maintain the prison system for the owners and managers of the gulug, whom ever they may be. Does this help you answer your questions?
