Authenticator phone app

My job is forcing me to get a phone authenticator because human resources is refusing to do simple tasks that they did less than a year ago, and the system will not allow me access without an authenticator app. I refuse authenticator apps from Microsoft, Google, or the like, and I'm trying to avoid overt tracking. Is FreeOTP ok? If not, then is Aegis ok? I already have an apk for both.

I haven't done a deep dive security analysis of these, but have used them in different contexts and they seem independent of the Microsoft-Google-Apple triopoly.

I feel your pain mate … my employer did the same thing last year, I tried a few but the only one I could get to work with our suit of apps is the Microsoft one , I ended up just using that, the 2FAS open source one was the closest for me to working without too much hassle, but in the end I have to log in so many times a day to different computers and it added so much extra hassle and time to my day that I just couldn’t be bothered anymore … I hope you have more success than I did!

I've been using Aegis for over a year now, and it's great. 2FA using OTP is actually good; you can enable it for this forum also, which I recommend.
