To all the governments negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement:

As concerned global citizens, we call on you to make the TPP process transparent and accountable to all, and to reject any plans that limit our governments' power to regulate in the public interest. The TPP is a threat to democracy, undermining national sovereignty, workers' rights, environmental protections and Internet freedom. We urge you to reject this corporate takeover.

Details are leaking of a top-secret, global corporate power grab of breathtaking scope -- attacking everything from a free Internet to health and environmental regulations, and we have just 3 days to stop it.

Big business has a new plan to fatten their pockets: a giant global pact, with an international tribunal to enforce it, that is kept top secret for years (even from our lawmakers!) and then brought down like a Death Star on our democracies. Big Tobacco, Big Oil, Big Pharma, Walmart and almost 600 other corporate lobbyists are all in on the final draft -- including limits on smoking laws, affordable medicines and free speech on the Net.

The latest round of negotiations ends in just 3 days -- but outcries in each of our countries could shake the confidence of negotiators and scuttle the talks forever. Let's get to a million against the global corporate takeover. Sign the petition on the right. Avaaz will project our petition counter on the walls of the conference so negotiators can see the opposition to their plan exploding in real time.

Any more insight about that ?

I don't see anything significant about the TPP, it's just business as usual in a globalised world run by psychos. Avaaz however, is a pretty well known covert shill for Western governments masquerading as a 'global civic organisation'. It's more or less the same as Moveon.org. Both are funded by people like Soros who, while appearing to challenge Western governments, are really just pushing their own elite agenda. Consider, for example, that Avaaz sent out one of its petitions demanding a "no fly zone" over Libya, i.e. they demanded that NATO bomb Libya.

We have 3 days to stop it?

Uhm, all that and more happened a long time ago.

Well, to say the truth, I signed it as soon as I had read it. Because it was shared on FB by a french PhD that I consider a lot. He figured out by himself that Avaaz was really suspicious just after.
Action/Reaction, I forgot the reflexion..
I should have done some more researchs before. They basically make money on donations, so they choose subjects that generate the most emotions, from all sides. The devil is in the details, as always.
I feel sorry to have give them some credit.

You're right, Kniall. Some petitions are stil worth it though.
