For some reason, I was cleaning my facebook account and checked "the you may know" link and I was surprise to see her profile after a quick scrolling down... No common friend. Just a profile like that...

I do not know what to think about that but my first instinct is all about tracking and sharing of information between facebook and the dating website. Another confirmation that Big brother is watching.

Facebook does some serious data-mining so if you and this 'interesting lady' had written very similar things on your pages, then FB would inevitably bring her to your attention and vice versa.

I will say that it is not the case. As a matter of fact I almost never post on facebook. She only has pictures... It is weird. Again the initial contact has been made on the dating site and nothing else. But after checking again, the common denominator could be one picture for me (the only one) that I used on both website and maybe a couple for her. So finally, no matter what the reason is... There was communication of private content between two distinct website.

Her appearance in the 'people you may know' section may be because she stalked you and visited your facebook page already. Which if you used the same profile pic and general location info etc, I don't think it would be too difficult to do.

Facebook also has facial recognition. So if it identified her photo from your browsing history, that might also have been used. It's pretty intrusive whatever the case may be.

YES! Thanks Alada for pointing out the obvious. (Boy do I feel stupid at times! :P) I think it is a very plausible explanation.

(Also Renaissance you submitted another good point. Though it will be harder to confirm!)

All in all, I will definitively be more careful.
