Yet another terrorist scare? https://www.rt.com/uk/410881-oxford-circus-underground-evacuated/

Oxford Circus Underground station in London has been evacuated while police investigate a "customer incident," British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed. Armed police are on the scene.

The Metropolitan Police tweeted: “If you are on Oxford Street go into a building. Officers are on scene and dealing. More info when we can.”

Ryan Butcher, a reporter for the Independent who was inside the station at the time, said panic broke out after passengers were told to evacuate the station. A tannoy announcement said there had been a “reported emergency” and police arrived quickly, he said.

“Everyone started running ... I saw smoke … people started falling over in the streets.”

He is sheltering in a nearby restaurant, where he said other people were “shaking and crying,” adding: “Its just terrifying.”

According to Twitter user Assed Baig, there is “Panic at Oxford Circus as people shout bomb!” while BBC journalist Kawoon Khamoosh said “too much police in Oxford Circus. People are screaming and running trying to escape the area. Everything was normal, changed in a min.”

Another Twitter user Chi Chi Izundu says she has been locked in clothing store Zara until “the situation is under control.” She added that people “panicked and ran for cover into the changing rooms.”

BTP did not immediately confirm the cause of the alert. It tweeted: “We continue to respond to an incident at Oxford Circus. The station is currently closed, please avoid the area at this time. Officers are on scene.”

The evacuation came as thousands of shoppers flocked to central London to shop the Black Friday sales.

A number of offices in the area are on lockdown.

Police have been responding to reported gunshots.
London's Oxford Circus underground station has been evacuated, with armed police arriving on the scene.

Police have confirmed that officers had been responding to "reports of an incident" at the station, saying later that reported gunshots have been the reason for the evacuation.

According to police, one woman has sustained a minor injury when leaving the train station, while there have been no other reported casualties.

According to eyewitnesses, people have been screaming and running away from the scene.

Trains are also not stopping at the Tube station, with police asking people to avoid the area.

The area has been cordoned off, with police announcing a probe into what was called a "customer incident."

While Metro newspaper (Ant22 comment: tabloid with limited credibility) reported that gun shots have been heard in the area, eyewitnesses claimed that a bomb squad looking police van has arrived at Oxford Circus, with no confirmation following so far. Firefighters have also been seen in the area.

All roads have been closed near the Tube train station.

There have been no information suggesting that the incident has been in any way linked to terrorism so far.

While additional officers will remain on duty, it appears there's nothing to see here...

I could be off, but it seems to remind of all the chaos going off during the Vegas shooter incident. Many hearing shots at all sorts of venues..., people given warnings to hide or stay away, and in the end 'police's claim that no evidence of an attacker - or even a shooting - has been found...'

Could it be that something was supposed to go off, but did not for one reason or another, but the secondary diversionary shooters were not stopped in time?
