The Living Force
I recently remembered a satirical short story I'd encountered before. The protagonist chases his very own "American Dream", one which is quite possible to believe in: miserable homelessness. (Though of course a real and normal person wouldn't actually strive for it as the character does.)
It seems to describe aspects of today's America quite well. On the other hand, it's whimsical, and perhaps a bit crude in some of the things that abruptly enter and then immediately leave the narrative. Not surprising, since the site seems to be about deliberately writing nonsense for amusement.
