True … he has some good insights - but he is in the camp of “Trump is brilliant and has everybody by the balls through 5D chess moves”. And that clouds his views to a considerable degree. In this I think he is delusional.

Insinuating that your opponent has employed (or will employ) possible underhanded dirty deeds and actions that you yourself have actually undertaken recently during 2 recent talks for a peace settlement and more than likely be planning to do so again. Anyway that's what I read between the lines.
Maybe a 2 week delay or perhaps 4, then the conflict suddenly kicks off again triggered by some dubious pretext or accusation from the US.
Cheating and lying is all we've seen thus far from the US/Israeli alliance. By theirs fruits etc.
Oh well, so much for the ceasefire.

Yeah, Trump is playing 5D chess and 13D checkers only with himself at this point. Probably one of the main reasons for his continuous contradictory claims and flip-flopping is simply to soothe the financial markets, create opportunities for insider trading, and manipulate energy prices, etc., so that people around him can immediately get the "spoils of war."
But there also seems to be this desperate attempt to buy time, a stubborn effort to "create reality" with his words — as if whatever BS he writes on Truth Social will magically be conjured into existence in order to get him out of this mess. Meanwhile, Israel and the Deep State will do everything to keep the flames ignited in the Middle East and lay the groundwork for their energy lockdowns and control systems in the near future.
I think that whatever Trump's motives or reasons are have become meaningless due to the weight and consequences of his actions. He is nothing but a tool anymore.
Another hit for the Cs. On this morning's Judge Napolitano's podcast, Scott Ritter actually said "tar baby" in characterizing Trump's dilemma in losing his Iran war. Although Nima was correct in asserting Iran was willing to fight to the last Iranian, China made it clear it was not OK with that stance, and thus, the ceasefire through Pakistan came about. According to Scott, this is a big win for Iran and Trump will continue to spin all the relevant aspects in order to convince the American public that his war resulted in positive results. So far it's quite clear that they are trying to prevent the ceasefire from happening by increasing their bombing campaign on Lebanon. Psychopaths as they are, I don't think anyone can make them behave and respect any ceasefire. The only reason they would stop is if they felt they hurt enough and need to regroup. But again, as psychos they 1) disregard any suffering of their own people and 2) can't assess reality properly so will underestimate how bad things are/will be for them. So I guess there won't be much of a ceasefire after all. And sadly, it is Lebanon who will mostly pay the price.

To answer Windmill Knight's point about the ongoing conflict in Southern Lebanon:
Ritter mentioned that a recent Israeli amphibious offensive against a river controlled by Hezbollah went very badly with the Israelis being beaten back and incurring heavy losses. They even left valuable equipment behind. So things are not necessarily going well for them on this front either. Ritter also added that after the Israeli pager coup last year that eliminated much of Hezbollah's command structure, everyone though that Hezbollah had been neutered and was no longer an effective fighting force. However, the last few weeks have shown how wrong this assessment was.
Maybe so but I think Trump, politically speaking, needs this ceasefire and way out of the conflict more than the Iranians do. This unnecessary war has left him politically damaged and could see the Republicans losing control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives in November's mid-term elections, leaving him a lame duck President for the next two years. He needs a peace deal which allows him to spin a victory to the American public who, by a large majority, have not supported this war. I think Vance is just posturing here. He has to talk tough and been seen to support his boss but he knows this conflict has damaged his own electoral prospects where the 2028 Presidential election is concerned.
