Brain shocks

If you cant get rid of the bottled water completely as Laura suggested I did some research about a year ago, to find which bottled waters had fluoride or chlorine added. The info is out there for at least half of the companies, you just have to find it. The one I like the most that has neither is Ozarka (natural spring water). It is UV treated, Ozone treated, and has Carbon filtration. I also read through its Water analysis report, and it is by far the best I have seen yet. Info linked below.

In regards to your symptoms, I have strange vortex like or a rumbling/churning feeling(almost like a tremor,) in what feels like my frontal lobe area sometimes. Its kinda scary. I played with diet and that helped a little but stretching daily actually ended up helping me the most. Just a thought, and I hope you find good health and peace.

Anyone else having a strange sensation in your brain?

I have been noticing a trend lately here on the forum and in my life personally. I have been having tremors or vortexes or rumbling and undulating feelings in my frontal lobe area. They come on and last for anywhere from 2 seconds to 5 seconds. They are somewhat paralyzing, but not completely. I can will them away, but I have also let them go to see what happens. (I know this sounds weird) It almost feels like one of those muscle twitches but in my brain and different. I was reading through the EE post and noticed it mentioned a few times from different people and the recent post Brain Shocks, however everyone kinda has there own description for it. I cannot quite remember the different places I have sen it mentioned but I know I have mentioned it before. Does anyone know what this is? Or better yet, how many of you are having something like this happen to you as well? I am curious, because although I have no pain associated with it, it is a bit disconcerting. I just want to know whats happening to me. ANyone have any theories?

Thanks,

I have started on the Ketogenic diet, it upset my tummy for a few days but I think I am adjusting to it more now.

I am still drinking the bottled water but I wondered if boiling it would make any difference? I was thinking about cutting back on the books I am buying and buying the distiller water instead, the trouble is I can't read too much from the internet as looking at the computer screen for too long seems to make the shocks in my head more frequent.

I also went to see another doctor and now they have referred me to a neurologist at the hospital.

I also ordered some melatonin from an online shop, really to help my sleep as nights are the worse time for me, I am hoping it won't have a bad effect.

Meditation is quite hard at the moment because I feel a little lightheaded whenever I try to concentrate and clear my mind, feels like I am swaying, and my head feels a bit like being on a boat, it's a strange feeling.

I will persevere with the diet, I know it will take time to make a change in my body after years of carbs and sugars.

Thanks again for all the help.

The swaying sensation during meditation I believe is referred to as vertigo, which I think is a kind of hypnagogic hallucination, which may occur when you are on the way of going into trance. I am not sure of this. If I am right then this path goes in the direction of increased suggestibility, which is opposite to what your aims presumably are.

I find this happens to me when I dissociate. It helps to practice self-remembering and/or mindfulness when this happens, as it focuses on the external sensory data and removes the sense of sensory deprivation that can occur during meditative states. It seems to happen to me when I lose contact with the "nuts and bolts" sense of being physically sitting down and meditating. This dissociation/mind wandering may be seen as counter to meditative goals as the intent is to become more aware and to take hold of our being with our minds in a way that is difficult during the day when we must constantly switch our attention and selectively ignore or suppress sensations in order to work efficiently. I would like corroboration on this, in case I am spouting word salad.

I have also noticed I get them more often when sitting in front of the computer or right after I am done. Although these are not the only times. Let me know if you have any success. I am A+ blood type, not sure if that means anything or not but hey its worth figuring these out.

Just make sure you go slow on lowering the carbs, and MAKE sure to read the Life Without Bread and The Vegetarian Myth threads, and everything else you can find in the Diet and Health section of the forum relating to low carb/keto diet issues. Get and read as many of the books mentioned in those threads as possible, in addition to LWB and TVM, The Art and Science of Low Carb Living, Primal Body, Primal Mind, etc.

Also if reading on the computer seems to increase the issues for you (and The_Seeker), could it be sensitivity to Electromagnetic pollution? Do you have Wi-Fi/have wireless network connection enabled or disabled on your computer, which might make things worse if sensitive to EMF? Just a thought.

Be careful with that. Supplementing hormones can produce all sorts of unexpected results. Some of us did not do well taking melatonin, for one reason or another. Do you keep your bedroom very dark? Bedrooms these days have all sorts of small light sources that need to be masked or eliminated. Wi-Fi in the bedroom is best avoided too.

I have never heard of anyone having problems with melatonin before. Can i ask what happened?

"Feeling strange" problems, which is to say, symptoms that are hard to describe. Searching the Are You Getting Enough Sleep? Sleeping properly? topic for "melatonin" will give you some idea.

Also, one of the books -- Primal Body, Primal Mind, I believe -- warns about trying to "balance" hormones by taking supplemental hormones. All of the hormones interact, and are regulated precisely. When something is off you need to, if possible, find out why. Melatonin is a rather important master hormone and it is hard to know what unintended effects you might experience by trying to force the level to go up.

In the case of melatonin quite a number of people reported that once they darkened their sleeping areas they no longer needed the supplement.

Fwiw, I still regularly use melatonin to good effect. As always, it's important to find what works best with your body.

I use it occasionally and Ark uses it regularly. It is reported to help mend DNA. But, obviously, one should take care with any supplements or hormone replacements. I think that both of us need much less melatonin nowadays because of our high protein/fat, low carb diet.

I have experienced this on occasion. Twice that I can think of off hand. Both times, this year.

About a month or so ago, just shortly after I laid down to go to sleep, I was awakened. I was already 'sleeping' but on the border of consciousness and felt as much as saw a swirling, whirling vortex. I felt this as it seemed in my body and perception that a 'portal' or 'vortex' had opened up in front of me, towards the ceiling of the room. It felt as though I were spinning towards it and seemed to 'come up' out of my body a bit. As I considered this and thought about 'letting go' to see what happened, did not feel comfortable and so brought myself to wakefulness, at which time the vortex and feeling disappeared.

The other time was maybe 6 months ago, again it was just after falling asleep. This was a nap in the afternoon after getting home from work, sitting in the living room on a chair. I 'saw' what appeared to be a cone or concentric circles, pointed or directed at me, again it 'felt' to be coming into the room from the corner of the wall/ceiling connection. I wondered what it was and 'heard' a voice in my head say 'don't worry about it' - anyways, I woke up and it dissipated.

I do not have any theories and these are new experience so I am not sure what to make of it.

Cheers.

If it is the same thing that i have experienced, and seen it mentioned a few times as well. Almost like an electrical zap, and it feels as if the physical goes out of sync with the spiritual body for a split second. Again, many ways to describe it. One thing that i realized was a common theme when asking about it was the withdrawal of certain drugs. I don't think that was the case with me every single time, but now i am not so sure.

Based on some info i read about different foods and insulin effects, I recently substituted a small tin of pineapple for my a/noon work snack, instead of meat and salad for when im feeling tired, and i have never felt more alert.

Im hoping this level of sugar from fruit, will not cause brain damage?
because the impression i got from the last paragraph of Psyches 'Deep Nutrition' article is that 1 apple sized portion of fruit per day, is not too bad?

Pineapple is actually a very sweet fruit, and I would say that yes it does (eventually) cause brain damage if not any other kind of damage in your body. Especially if it's not organic, then it's doing even more damage. Personally, I find pesticides to be just as bad as gluten. I assume you're not following the low-carb diet? If you would, then I would think it's best to get your carbs from vegetables, such as green beans. But before you want to make any big changes, you might want to read the "Life Without Bread" thread and the book "Primal Body, Primal Mind'' first to get a better understanding.
