Brass Arrangements

Trying to pick up were we left off on the work thread Mocachapeau.

I have a nice ( I think! ) full brass band arrangement of The Fairytale of New York ( the Shane McGowan and Kirsty McCall song ). Appropriate for the time of year that's in it at the moment too. Anyway, I got Sibelius to record/save it as a .wav file, and brass-band wise it sounds great. Only problem is that the file is over 50MB. Easy to burn to a CD along with a few others and mail to someone, but how do I share such a large file electronically with folk?

Cheers

Hi EC,

The first thing I would check out is a program called dbPowerAmp - Music Converter. I searched for it on Google and found it was a free download for the simple version. Not all functions are included but it allows you to convert wave files to mp3, and vice versa. Once it is in mp3 form you can post it on youtube the way I described, or some other file sharing site, but I am only familiar with youtube and Mediafire. Unfortunately, some people here have had trouble with Mediafire so they prefer the youtube option.

You can post it there privately so that the only people that can go there are people with the link to the page. Just post the link here and forum members can check it out.

Hopefully that will get you started, and if you still have trouble you can always ask questions here on the forum. I would be happy to help you get one up and running, and other people may have more suggestions, as well.
