British Parliament are currently debating whether to bomb syria

luke wilson

The Living Force
They are debating whether to bomb Syria. The No arguments are quite compelling, the Yes are emotional and authoritarian (plus downright illogical!) but these people on the Yes side carry more power!!

You'll be glad to hear Corbyn is on the No side. But you'll be disheartened to hear this is not the Labour stand.

_http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-34980504

It's all theatre though. A bunch of grown men (*cough* posh rich kids *cough*) debating playfully as if it were a debating competition back in their respective college debating clubs about whether to go destroy millions of lives or not. It would be laughable if it weren't actually a serious issue with the potential of 'f**ing' up the world even more.

With some of this yessers, you almost feel like saying, OK! We'll go their if you are right on the front line!! They make their arguments in the full knowledge that they won't be personally affected. It'll be other people's kids flying those jets, it'll be other people's kids committing human mass suffering, they instead are only seeing the £'s they'll be receiving from all the weapon systems makers who no doubt are knee deep beyond all measure in the debate happening now as the result of the vote will determine if they'll be getting those bonuses this xmas.

Some lady, I don't even know her name, all I know is that she is in the conservative party made the argument that we should bomb syria because 30 british tourists died in Tunisia during that terror attack!!! Why didn't anyone counter with the fact that the huge amounts of cash that will be spent raining bombs from the sky onto civilians and civilian infrastructure can be used to solve national issues that result in way more than 30 deaths per year for British people!!!!!

It's soooo annoying having to listen to this stuff. Absolutely, gratingly annoying!

Please let the no votes win!!!!!! God dammit, D Cameron and his whole party are such twats!!

I've been watching this all day. It is such a strange circus to watch, and it must be pretty crazy-making to have to put up with these insane monkeys shouting and jeering at each other. The shouting that erupts when Corbyn speaks is pathetic!

Tbh it's just exhausting to hear them talking in circles - even the "No" folks talking bullshit about Assad, Russia etc.

This can't happen! No way these people can be allowed to start another bombing campaign, for the sake of all humans everywhere!

British people cannot be that ignorant that they just sit idly and watch their government make such a huge mistake that will no doubt mean misery for the majority and just wanton crimes against humanity being committed. Plus the hubris, what do they expect to achieve out there? As if the RAF can do something the american military can't!!

On Russia, yeah they are all singing from the same hymn sheet. Ignorance beyond all levels.

Madness run amok on Planet Earth.

After calling those who opposed the attacks "terrorists", Cameron gets what he wants:

Yup, looks like Cameron got what he wanted - but im not sure what exactly they are going to do in Syria. The Russians, have effectively a no-fly zone over Syria with their S-400 System deployed, and Movska missile cruiser. Any RAF actions by the Brits will need Russian and Syrian permission. Have they considered this ? or just the usual sabre rattling, a few flyby's and nothing really happens.....

Yeah, they decided to add themselves into the mix. What they hope to achieve, I have no idea given that it's not a free rein in Syria as it was in Libya as Russia is heavily involved. Maybe the US wants to pit the RAF against the Russian air force.

It seems the RAF has carried out first airstrikes in Syria, with regards to the locations they are not going to say.....I think its unlikely any bombing happened, but not sure - it is definitely getting "curiouser & curiouser" what the Empire is up too...

Chaos is getting strength - it's hard to watch all this and still maintain hope that this is a condition for a new better world to emerge.

I am astounded how dark is the horizon, so dark. We are really entering the dark age. It is very important to keep the light inside us, thanks to the... iodine. That helps. But my goodness it seems to me that we are in a spiral without end. It seems also that the pride, the folly of these people are taking speed.

Well, to carry the metaphor on, it’s up to us to keep the lights shining more brightly on the outside too. I agree that in general things seem to be taking a turn for the worse on all sides, in the US, in Europe, The Middle East, what has been noticeable over the last few days though is the people here and via Facebook etc that are staring to speak up, like and share things. Some of whom I thought would never like/share anything like that. It brings a little hope, that those butterfly wings flapping can go further than we imagine.

So guess all we can do is carry on getting the truth out there as best we can and watch. Share sott, network, express our thoughts and what we see so that others (who are not totally asleep) know that they’re not alone.

I've noticed the same thing on social media. Friends that I wouldn't expect speaking out, liking or sharing SOTT articles. Putin is a favorite. They seem to recognize something in his leadership, even if they don't have the full picture. I am constantly surprised about the impact social media has. You can tweet something with the right hashtag and a complete stranger retweets and/or favorites it. I have hope that more people are seeing through the lies and garbage that the political system is foisting on them. I agree that it is a pretty dark time, but hope remains with what seems to be a growing awareness.

Hi,
Remember the end of the last session?

A: Relax now and enjoy the show.

I had some difficulties relaxing as life be it personal or others' isn't really a joyride, but rather bumpy.
So, I turned to read wise advices. Beside the Tao te Ching I use to read in times when I'm not in a proper mindset to handle challenges appropriately, here's this article featured on SOTT:

http://www.sott.net/article/304538-Thriving-in-uncertainty

The problem isn't uncertainty itself. The problem is our rejection of it.

Perhaps we don't need to solve Soft Uncertainty by finding the answer. Maybe the ability to comfortably hold a paradox in our mind is the better answer.
Perhaps we can't control Hard Uncertainty. Maybe we ought to position ourselves to actually benefit from things out of our control.

The tools we discuss below develop our strength to handle both types of uncertainty simultaneously.

Instead of becoming arrogantly certain, we will become confident in our uncertainty. Instead of pretending we can predict the future, we will be ready for a future we could never imagine.
"You get pseudo-order when you seek order; you get a measure of order and control when you embrace randomness." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb

I went through it several times. Maybe it will benefit you too, just choose wisely what suits you !
With an increasingly volatile reality it is our willingness to blend into the flow and learn to navigate it will save us and present us with situations/opportunities to be a good worker in the field.

Here are the final thoughts:

Conclusions & Action Steps
"...it is much better to do things you cannot explain than explain things you cannot do." The world isn't going to get any more certain. In fact, it looks like it's going to get increasingly complex.
This doesn't mean that we need to feel uncertain. It does mean we need to learn to operate under uncertainty more effectively.

I offered 5 specific ways in which you can go about doing this:
1. Adopt Stoicism. Specifically practice the Triad of Control. Every time you feel disturbed by a situation, ask yourself what is in your control. Attach your mental well-being to your effort and the actions you take rather than the outcome. (Again, this is simple, effective, and incredibly difficult.)
2. Make Small Bets. Think hard about small risks you can take that have the potential to pay off in big ways. Don't focus on the possibility that you win but instead on the magnitude of the payoff if you do.
3. Optionality. Give yourself more options in your life. Save money. Go to parties. Make your work public. Don't commit until you need to. Get multiple offers. Always put yourself in situations where positive options are likely to be created.
4. Adapt: Stay Present, Fluid. Stop reading about how to start a business and take the first step. Stop reading about fitness and go to the gym. Don't think about what the book says you should do, think about what makes sense for you right now. The situation you are in is unique to you; a book or advisor may help you think through something, but only you fully understand the context of your situation.
5. Embrace Uncertainty. Uncertainty is a force of nature; you don't get to "beat" it, you can only hope to use it. How can you use it? Steps 1-4. How can you make room to begin applying those? Let go of your need for certainty. Begin to see that more ideas can be correct in the abstract — yet when you take action you find that only one reality exists. You can't explain it all and you don't need to. In fact, if you did, something else would just change. The goal is to love this. Amor fati!

There are more articles that are linked to this thoughts, so use them as all the Cass material, to thrive in unimaginable ways!

Yes, you are all right. Lately I am reading some Stoics, re-read Montaigne. In darkness you can see the light in others. I am not afraid of what is happening, it is just that sometimes it is that what you see is so strong, so plain of infamy that it cuts your breath for some minutes. And hopefully we are many to see this infamy.
