I wonder if it's got something to do with the fat. If the chickens are exposed to toxins, it may build up in the fat, and the legs tend to have more fat distributed in the meat than the white parts. Also is the skin eat on the legs, but not the other parts? Same issue could be in the skin and fat under the skin. And it could have to do with the fat composition being too high in omega 6 verses omega 3. Just some thoughts.
I rarely eat chicken, maybe twice a year, and haven't noticed any negative reactions. But I usually don't eat the legs. FWIW.
