I added the quotation marks in the title. The weaponry seized was a couple of gasoline cans, a chainsaw and a homemade crossbow...along with "three medium-sized suitcases [that] were found to be stuffed with batteries, scribbled notebooks, and a copy of "100 ways to Make Money on the Internet."

Seems that Toronto's finest noticed an unusual metal storage box placed on top of some guy's car. The article mentions that the arrested driver showed "some disorientation in answering questions ". (Now, where have we heard that before?)

article said:
...The metal storage box was riveted together and balanced on some foam on the roof of a silver Hyundai as it cruised past the downtown Novotel hotel, less then half a mile (under a kilometer) from the convention center where world leaders are gathering this week for the G20 summit.

"The design of the vehicle gave us some concern," constable Hugh Smith told reporters, as a firefighters' hazardous material crew and a bomb disposal squad arrived to secure the car.

Smith confirmed a man, in his mid-50s, had been arrested, but could not confirm his identity, and said no charges have yet been brought. "This is an ongoing investigation," he said, adding the car was "filled with weapons of opportunity."

Weapons of opportunity...against all of the sophisticated military hardware the G20 elite have on hand?!!! Looks like another case of pouring on the hysteria by using a half-baked excuse to justify the overblown security measures.

WHAT?

Yeah that is really an odd statement. It might have made the slightest degee of sense if they had said "there was a strange storage box on top of the vehical." But still, really? What sets off their red flags these days???

:/

Edited to add: Well actually anything. If they can tase an elderly 86 year old sick, bed ridden woman who 'took a more aggressive posture' http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=18443.0

Then anything is possilble.

Evidently vehicles that can only accelerate when going down hill? A cop on a bicycle can catch a fleeing Hyundai
