Hi Willow164,

Welcome to our forum. :)

Have a look at that thread: http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,28712.0.html

We recommend all new members to post an introduction in the Newbies section telling us a bit about themselves, how they found the cass material, and how much of the work here they have read.

You can have a look through that board to see how others have done it.

By the way, the search function is a very good way to see if the subject has already being covered.

For example, let's talk about green beans. Within the listed ingredients, why are there big long scientific names to what I assume are chemicals that I know nothing about? I would think there would be green beans and water in the can. But no, there is much much more. There are preservatives and what else gawd knows what kind of poisons are in there. Canned goods to me, are for extreme emergencies. I wouldn't, I don't base my food storage on canned goods.
I do miss Spam though :P

Indeed, there is much discussion here about what diet and health. Checkout the Diet and Health thread with the Science topic.
Perhaps this link may be a good start for...

The only canned goods I consider part of my stockpile is canned fish. I also found some canned sauerkraut. The only ingredients listed are the food product itself, water and salt.

I also bought some more traditional foods -- soups and such -- to give away or trade.
